Default Options finalization

My freeze date is approaching in a few weeks, I'm about finalized my Guards Red 911 C2 (base). Here is the code: https://www.porsche.com/microsite/po...px?c=/PN592W73

My question is there are a few options that I have added or thinking of adding that are kind of on the bubble. I am getting Sports Chrono, Sports Exhaust and Full Leather with deviated stitching.

Looking to get people's opinion on how they found these options in particular:
  1. Sport Design Package Front and Back (I am getting the side skirts in Guards Red). Not Selected Yet. I'm mixed about the design, and don't like the fact that you lose dynamic aero in the front with the package.
  2. Porsche Design Sub-Second Chronopackage. (I like the look of the Porsche Design clock, and feel its different from what most people get). Selected. Does the clock look like its worth it?
  3. Lightweight & noise insulated Glass. (Based on the noise reduction, I'm not too conserned about weight). Selected. Does it fuction as advertised, any other benefits of having this vs standard glass?
  4. Aluminum PDK Gear Selector (I've seen people complain about the basic shifter cracking) Not Selected Yet. I'm ok with how the basic shifter looks, but worried about long term durability
  5. I'm getting the Leather package with deviated stitching. Any other leather bits I should consider?
  6. Also, I have the basic trim. Should I do more leather? carbon or aluminium
  7. Any other must have options based on my build?

Thanks, I appreciate your input.

I can only speak about the Sport Design since I don't have the other options.
It's an expensive option so I would only choose it if you clearly think the car looks better with it.
For me, the front was a no brainer. I just loved the way it looked. I doubt the missing aero does much performance-wise so didn't care about that.
I was on the fence about the rear even after seeing 100s of photos, videos and even live cars.
Since I was on the fence, I decided to not get it and put the money elsewhere. Haven't regretted it so far.
So, look at photos and live cars, if possible, and see what you like the most. If not clear in your mind, my rule is to avoid paying extra...

I would add preparation for roof transport.

I would add interior trim inlays in leather.

I wish I had ordered the Porsche Design Subsecond Clock.

I think the standard PDK shifter is fine.

The cost of deviated stitching is high, not sure it adds that much.

I don’t think the steering wheel in leather is noticeable.

Nice specification over all, above is just my opinion, you have ordered all the important stuff.

That's a pricey Carrera build. Have you considered bumping up to a GTS and doing the GTS interior package? That deviated stitching option on its own is insane.

FWIW, your Carrera build is more than my GTS coupe build. But if it has all the amenities and options you want, enjoy it.

I was lucky to get allocation. If I start all over, I'll likely wait 18months+ But I was looking at GTS as well. One thing I like about the base model is I can push it without getting a ticket.

Interesting. I wonder if that would look good on a Guards Red exterior though. I think brown would be perfect for a white car.

Yes, true. But I don't think I would be able to get allocation where I am.

Nice car.

I would go for full sport design package.

GTS has it, if that means something

Here is my opinion but its just mine so no real value

1. I love guards red and think the side skirt and mirrors in guards red looks really nice (doing the same on my GR GTS)
2. I would not go for high gloss black window trim, high gloss 911 logo and the expensive fuel cap
3. I would do the tailpipes in silver rather than black
4. I would also not do the Porsche design sub-second clock
5. I wouldnt do the lw and insulated glass
6. everything else is legit

The deviated stitching in guards red is worth every penny!

1. I would absolutely go with the Sport Design package. To me, it improves the aesthetic of the car, especially the bubbly bulbous rear end. Like someone else mentioned, you're likely not losing anything with the removal of the active aero up front (..which is primarily used to get the engine up to operating temperature faster and allow for efficient cooling; the Sport Design package is already designed for efficient cooling). It's not as aerodynamically beneficial as the active aero on the Turbo S.

2. I would pass on the clock.

3. Unless you have an issue with the road noise in the 992, I would pass on this option as well.

4. I ordered a manual so I have no opinion on the PDK gear selector.

5. I personally opted for the leather dash, doors, door sills, etc. because I came from a number of full-leather BMW ///M cars and frankly, the standard spec 992 interior felt like a huge downgrade. I felt like I needed the extra leather appointments to make it feel like the $145k car it is.

6. The basic trim is fine, but the carbon fiber looks pretty cool as well. I wish it were glossy however. BMW's interior carbon fiber trim is very well made.

Ultimately I feel like most of the threads similar to this one are started with the intention of obtaining confirmation regarding the things we've already decided to option in the car(s). I think you already know what you want and don't want, so I say..........YOLO! Get what you want. In the end it's your car so you should choose what makes you happy.
