congrats on getting a 992!

can confirm prices are still ridiculous. Passed on an opportunity to upgrade to a turbo s. The same dealer I bought my 992 4s from offered 5k over what I paid for my car even though I have an additional 6k miles on it.

I’m sure there’s lots of tire kickers who jump on here and complain about the prices of cars they’ll never own. I’m not one of ‘em - I honestly wanted to make sure my perception was reality. I’m new to Porsche, but an old hand at all kinds of other fun Powersports. Incidentally, sold my BMW 5 series back to the dealer yesterday with a year of use and 5k more miles at the same price I bought it. I was honestly considering a new M5 - but I think I’ve made the right choice here. Thanks for the welcome.

Dealers in my area are asking $160k+ for CPO C4S with similar MSRP's to the one you picked up. I'd say that's a win, congrats on the car!

If you are just now looking, and have to ask this question….sorry, but you are too late to the party.

Thanks so much PW! I saw some of those for sale too, some over $170 even and have been looking for where the price differences came from. This particular car has the 14 way seats, sliding glass roof and Bose stereo and a few other things I desired - but doesn't have some of the options such as sport exhaust more important to others. I'm attributing the cost of those options and even steeper markups for the differences I am seeing. Interesting to know this dark blue color is now a much more expensive upgrade. Again, appreciate all the great advice here. Right now I'm happy to have gotten into this where I did. Kindly, Farv

An analysis of the dozen 992 Carrera 4s available on Porsche.com shows: years (2020 or 2021) miles, asking price, sticker price and the difference. There's some astonishing variation.

Having paid below MSRP in 2019, I got to drive my 2020 992C4S for 2.5 years, 35k miles, and the adventure cost me almost nothing in depreciation. Those paying ADM for new and above sticker for a used example, will not be as lucky.

2020 has a bunch of known issues that the dealer will take care of.
1. check the windshield and windows for leaking glue. It’s black and messy.
2. driver and passenger door card for squeaks. There is a fix with silicon or it gets replaced.
3. Chairs squeaking. Be rough going back and forth
4. steering wheel squeak. Pull on it and listen. They silicone it up.
5. front lip scrape. Cheap easy replacement.
6. Turn up the ac high. Smell for anything funky
7. Inside window trim triangles. Might be lose causing rattles. Must be replaced.
8. Turn up speakers with bass and treble. Listen for blown speakers or rattles. Especially back seats. Gets replaced.

Front lip scrape… not sure how that’s a “2020” issue. The Bose speaker issue affects multiple model years and is covered under warranty.

As for the rest, my June 2019 build didn’t experience any of the issues that you described.

I started with issues and added other things to look out for. So the list should titled things to look out for.

I'll be sure to look out for a few of the things on this list when my '22 arrives.

I've been actively looking for about 3 weeks. Anywhere from $8k (low end) to $25k (high end) above sticker is to be expected on a Certified 992 S. If you're looking for a Targa, good luck finding anything under $25k over sticker.

I'm hoping to pick up my 2nd 992 next week pretty much AT sticker from a private seller (which also means no sales tax). If you wait you can find them, you just might be waiting for a unicorn depending on the spec you might want.
