Saw this Motor Trend article indicating even the GT3 may go hybrid. Would be good to have a GT3 that has more torque at lower RPMs for better overall drivability.

I wonder if it is possible to have a hybrid 911 that has a manual transmission. I would be very sad to give up the manual option.

Yes, if Honda can put a manual in a hybrid, Porsche should be able to do the same.

I am sure they can. But should they? Why would you want to manually change gears that don’t exist? I understand completely why someone prefers a MT and I understand why someone wants a hybrid or EV. But I can’t understand why you would want to go through the cost, effort, complexity of creating the fiction that you are changing gears on a transmission that doesn’t have any gears. That’s like designing an e-reader that required you to open and close the cover the change the page.

You misunderstand hybrid drivetrains. These cars still have transmissions.

Are we talking about a hybrid 992.2 or just possible electrification of the 911 at some point down the road? That impacts whether this thread belongs here. Thanks

I would be very, very surprised to see a hybrid as a 992.2 release. If I had to guess, it’s still 3-5 years away.

True. I was thinking EVs.

I suppose if the 992.2 has the small battery in the PDK box then they may describe it is as mild hybrid. Plug in hybrid has to be as you say, with the 994.

Great question. For me personally, no manual option decreases my interest. The transmission is the only true deal breaker for me when buying a vehicle.

Have no idea what you are talking about. I expect a hybrid 911 to have a flat 6 turbo internal combustion motor w/ hybrid assist - either driving the front wheels w/ electric power or providing addt’l power to the rear wheels. There is no fictional scenario here. I want the manual transmission to control the gearbox connected to the internal combustion engine. If I wanted a fictional manual experience, I’d get a PDK (kidding, of course).

I am rushing the current order on a 992 because of the rumor about hybrid edition 992.2. What I need is a gas 911😅

This is what I assumed would be coming, as well.

Some alternate version of what Vonnen's been doing.

I have a feeling the 992.2 Turbo and Turbo S will be hybrids. They could be introduced in 2 years.

If I had to guess, 992.2 TTS gets it, and potentially a GT2 RS gets it too. TT might stay with the ICE (abut get a bump to near the hp of the current TTS).
