Detuning A Carrera S/GTS To Feel Like A Base Carrera Engine
#31
I think I understand the gist of your question. I’m sure it’s “possible” but I doubt that many would want it to be done if it was.

Sounds like a snowflake overreaction. Go Bruins did not call the OP anything - just provided a definition of OP's handle. Just my 2 cents...

This forum has gone insane. I am a relatively poor member of this community. Is this what happens to rich folk? They just lose their minds? There's been a few threads and posts that has me really scratching my head lately... like the one from a guy who waited over a year from a 4S targa allocation then passed up a 4S targa GTS allocation at MSRP... or the one where the guy wants more torque in the lower RPM range... but refuses to downshift. No. He wants to drive in 8th gear and be able to floor it and make the car accelerate like a bat out of hell from 2000 RPM or something. And now this last one takes the cake. Sofa King crazy.

To clarify I did not get offended or anything like that. I did not think he called me a "pedo". However I do appreciate you potentially calling it out!

I didn't call the thread starter a pedophile. I just pointed out that his name was an English slang term for it. That fact, coupled with his interesting photo avatar, and the odd question of spending lots of money for an S or GTS, then detuning it with the goal of making his own 911 T, made me think he was playing us all for fools. That's what trolling is (among other things). By the way, notwithstanding Mr. Nonce's protests to the contrary, it still seems that way. All that being the case, this thread is amusing.

OP's question is why Porsche built the 911T in the 991 generation (a base 991 engine with some doodads from the higher C2S/GTS trims like adaptive suspension, shorter 3.59:1 final-drive ratio, a limited-slip rear differential, sport chrono package that keeps the dynamic engine mounts and steering, etc.)
So even though the OP may be pranking all of us, there is a market for his (assuming the OP is a "he") query.

Sure, you can detune the engine. I do it all the time. In my town the speed limit is 25 and I do it every day - imagine that - I can go barreling down at 100+ mph but I apply less gas and the engine makes just enough power to move me at 25 mph. And I am proud to say I spent no money on this neat trick. Just a bit of coordination with the right foot.

You can't achieve what you want with a tune, at all. The feel comes from smaller quicker spooling turbos.. Go buy base model turbos, install them, then tune it like a stock base model. You need the hardware. Software only won't work.
Also, what strain of mushrooms/psilocybin are you on? Hit me up.
