What did you pay? Below, at, or above MSRP?

Advanced
I have been on the "the list" for an allocation since May 2021.
Dealer reached out and indicated that if i wanted to keep the Allocation, I would have to agree to a ADM of 25k.
I declined.
My bet is that by September of this year, things will have worked themselves enough to where ADM will not be as much as a common thing. But under current market conditions, "it's take it or leave it". To be clear, i believe in supply and demand, and don't fault the dealer. It is what it is.
Looking like a 2024 model realistically. (Order summer 2023 the way it looks)
By the time i get it, it would be half a decade nearly. (ordered Dec. 2019, Canceled in March 2020 due to you know, May 2021 on the list, Declined Feb 2022)

It is nice to know I am not alone in overpaying. Quote from ABC Article listed above:
Tyson Jominy, vice president of data and analytics at J.D. Power, said 87% of consumers are currently paying above MSRP, which is already at a record high.
So for you guys that are at MSRP, congrats, you are one of the 13%. LOL. I am guessing the percentage is actually higher for Porsche's. Not proud of it for sure, but I kinda would like to get my first 911 in the spring and live life. The lucky ones can wait, because they already have a 911 sitting in the garage so there is no particular rush at all. Their trade in 911 is literally probably going up in value as they wait for the new one. Of course, if anyone bought a house in the last two years you have my sympathy.

I paid 10K markup for my 4 GTS cuz I had no allocation and no prior dealer relationship and I wanted to get it soon, not a year from now. I would do it again. Didn't like it but there was really no alternative and I talked to many dealers. It was either that or wait over a year. Since Covid, area inventory is low and demand is high. Many are charging 30K markup for GTS and 50K for Targa's. Turbos and GT3's are more. I don't like it but like someone else said, better to get on with your life with a 911 in it than not.

Automakers want the car to sell at MSRP without needing discounts...they have no interest in having dealers marking up the cars and dragging their brand name through the mud. MSRP will be the new normal for a while. Jim Farley made this statement during an earnings call, not some private dealer meeting or memo....I doubt he would make misleading or false statements during an earnings call.

Second that. If there was really a shortage of chips, how did BMW 2021 record volume sold (higher than 2019 - pre Covid) be possible??? We used to get $10K discount on the M-cars. Now, they are selling them $5K to $20K above MSRP (and you must pre-order them). Good Marketing for BMW. Instead of carryover inventory and paying interest, BMW dealerships can now switch to a ‘Build to Order’ model.
Bottom line, ‘we’ are promoting inflation by paying ADM. The bottom 40% of the population are suffering. I wish that most of us would stop feeding this ADM concept and bring the market back to normal.
if all the ‘smart’ people on this board stop paying ADM, we can bring the market back to normal much quicker.
Personally, I don’t pay above MSRP because I don’t want to feed the wolves.

I also have a skiing resort in Florida with your name on it... call now, my dogs are standing by....
But I do concur, I do not pay retail for anything and especially not MSRP. I always have so many other projects and things I want, that my running shoes (walking away apparel) are always at hand.

Alas your reply is not entertaining in the least, especially given your vast presence on this forum summing 15 posts.
I paid neither MSRP nor ADM for my 992 nor Macan. As I mentioned, PERSONALLY (I guess that part of my post escaped you) I have way too many likes and hobbies to entertain spending my money that way. What it is now, how you spend your money, what your expert mind believes or not is your opinion. I THINK and I don't (spend my money on that).

I'm paying MSRP for a 2023 C4GTS with my local dealer who obtained an allocation for me in 3/2023 and my GTS is on the SFL Conductor scheduled to arrive in July for delivery.
While I think the days of getting 2-5% off of 911 orders are gone (I got 3% off an ordered 997 TT-S in 2010!) probably forever, MSRP is not an unobtainable goal for non-GT cars probably depending mainly on local market conditions...although it may require either a previous relationship with a dealer or substantial dealer calling leg work.
It's may be easier in metro areas with multiple dealers within 50 miles.

ADM can really back fire when you run into the problem I had. Porsche will back charge the dealership for the ADM. Short sighted.

5% off MSRP for my 2021 992 nicely outfitted. Bought it 3k+ miles from where I live. If that hadn't worked, I had my eyes on a 71 Cuda 426 Hemi/440 Wedge MT and a '67 GTO. NO ADM or MSRPs on either of those or the other toys I have my eyes on.

South Florida market, MSRP on a 2023 992.
First time 911 buyer, only prior experience with this dealership was a CPO loaner Macan. Also young, no connections of any sort to offer.
MSRP isn’t dead, and it most certainly is coming back. Nothing is forever, I’ve lived through a few market downturns and more will occur in the future.
