Default Engine Control Error warning

I'm at 650 miles in my 992 C2S and get this little warning sporadically. Shut off the engine and restart and it usually goes away in 10 seconds. I've not tried OBD2 or OBD11 reader too see what it says (or if those even work...)
Any of you seen this one before I take her into the shop?

I got that in my 2017 Macan S a few times (back when Porsche used a Porsche engine in a Macan S). I’d also get a PDK warning and lose half of my gears and reverse - some really scary faults.

All it ended up being was a computer reprogram was needed and I didn’t put the gas cap on tight enough.

Seriously, check the gas cap. You’ll get some weird faults from that.

How often have you been driving it? It may be that your battery is low and needs a full charge.

As @detansinn mentioned a likely cause is low charge battery. Check DTCs in all modules. If a multitude of errors are present it most likely points to a low battery issue.

So i just got this same error today on my MY22 C4S manual.

Had a spirited drive for like 45 min, stopped at a grocery store for 10 minutes, got back in and when pulling out of the parking lot, went to shift from 2nd to 3rd and it started acting weird. Shifter was in 3rd, but before i let out the clutch i noticed 2 things- the red gear indicator by the speed in the dash was blinking and said 1 not 3, and the engine revved like it was matching in a downshift (was in sports plus mode). I pulled the shifter back to neutral tried again and it was still unsure, blinking and revving so i tried letting out the clutch and it recognized 3rd gear but then flashed the error.

I pulled over, stopped the engine for a few seconds. Restarted and error cleared and shifting was normal for the 5 minute drive home. So weird.

1,400 miles on the C2S and I just had the same issue. Any new insights from this group? I'll take the car in to the dealership in a couple weeks, but figured I'd ask nonetheless. Thanks.

The dealership said that cylinders 2 and 6 misfired, one time each, and that's what threw the warning light. I asked them what they do about that and they said they'd record it in my file in case it happens again, but there's nothing more they can do at this time. Does that sound right to others on here (who know a lot more about this than I do)?

@abk444 since there was a single misfire from both, I would take it as a transient error and leave it at that. Should it happen again, you've contacted the dealer and they have it on file.

Update: it seems I had the same issue with multiple misfires. They ran the car for a good number of miles with no error messages. They asked if they could put another 20 miles on it for further follow up. I have deep concerns based on what I’ve read from a few other RL members. In one particular case the misfires happened again, multiple times, required engine out service on valves. Went all the way beyond PCNA to Germany. So I’m on egg shells at moment. Not happy to say the least.
