Trim Removal / Change
Hi all,
Have an almost perfect 992 lined up. All the toys I am looking for, good deal etc. Only thing I am not sure about is it has wood trim in the centre console, dash and door panels.
has anyone took these trims off before, easy, any guides etc. Can not see any replacements anywhere apart from dealer, wouldn't like that cost so was thinking of have them wrapped or hydro dipped?

Do not wrap or hydro-dip the wood. You don’t want to risk damaging it. It’s a less common option. Embrace the character of it.

The Palado wood trim is awesome.. So much so, I ordered it myself!
Here are a few pics, but trust me, you will love the character of it. PS. What color is your interior?

You might be able to find somebody willing to trade trim with you.
I really like the wood, looks very classic. But certainly not for everybody.

I'm usually not a fan of wood trim, but the palado wood in the 992 with a black interior works particularly well. It reminds me of an Eames Lounge Chair in the best way.

Agree. It has a modern look. It’s not the typical 90s era glossy burl walnut. I wouldn’t mess with it. I prefer it to the carbon trim I had in my previous 992.

In my eyes wood appears more at home in a luxury vehicle rather than a sports car.

It's a matter of taste. The wood is subtle enough to not really change the character of the interior. And there is a precedent.

The same thing can be said for cloth inserts in the seats, and I spec'd sport-tex as well for this same reason... But many will say not having full leather in a 150K car is sacrilege, but honestly cloth inserts I think are more in line with original sports cars..
Just depends on what you want, nothing wrong with either direction, just a matter of personal taste.

Just helped a buddy do this, not fun but not hard.
All trim pieces come off relatively easy besides the door panel only because Porsche decided to plastic weld the trim pieces to the door panel. The dash ones are held in by clips and a screw at each end of the dash trim. Center console one is held in by clips and just pops out.
All the actual wood/carbon/painted portion of the trim on the door panel/dash are also plastic welded.
Personally I say stick with the wood trim cause I think it looks great!
