One thing of note (but not surprising)….

the tech said the car is incredible and pretty much wants to break loose any chance it gets. He says that I’m going to need much better tires.

I still have the tires from the factory (Pirellis).

I will be switching to Sport Cup 2s the very next chance that I get

A few visual tweaks to the car in order to get it ready for some track sessions. I know that stripes aren't for everybody. I just decided to have a little fun here.
The car will be picked up from Porsche Plano on Tuesday or Wednesday with the GIAC tune, Soul Performance exhaust and BMC air filters.

This same tech has worked on my cars in the past, is a licensed racer and is hyper-conservative when it comes to aftermarket upgrades. Truthfully, he's not a big fan

Just curious, why did you go this route instead of the M engineering tune where you aren’t required to ship out your ECU?

Also, I see that you have sports cats with a new catback. Is your cold start mega loud?

A couple of things...

1) I chose GIAC because my tech (that I use for all of my past Porsches) is also a licensed racer. He knows my driving style really well, so he can speak to me in terms of track driving, etc.
The GIAC tune is certainly considered to be one of the more conservative tunes out there, but it matches my track driving style the best. I like the fact that it doesn't push the boost too far and it
also helps to maintain linear delivery that I prefer.

If I was worried more about drag-racing and 1/4 mile runs, I would probably opt for a more aggressive tune. However, I want my car to maintain most of it's factory characteristics, while also giving me
more power in places like Circuit of the Americas, where the back straight leaves me more susceptible to GT3s, 600LTs, etc. This tune will at least allow me to run with them a bit better.

I also want the power delivery to be linear and predictable, because there are certainly a few high-speed turns at COTA where I really don't want the boost to come on like an old 930 Turbo.
So, the GIAC is a nice balance for me. Not the most powerful tune out there, but it's perfect for my needs.

The Porsche dealership handled everything for me, so I didn't have to lift a finger (accept to swipe the credit card!).

Now, I have not picked up my car yet. I am waiting for the BMC air filters to arrive, because they accidentally shipped them via ground-shipping. So, that made my wait a bit longer.

While Porsche Plano was waiting for the ECU to get shipped back, they went ahead and installed the exhaust system for me.

So, I haven't heard the exhaust yet. However, the reviews from those at the dealership have been extremely positive.

I'll definitely have something to report by the middle of this week.

What are the gains claimed with the GIAC tune? Their site is dated with old MY Porsches on it.

They are. Now, every dealership has its limits (in terms of mods) and Porsche Plano does too. However, they are very GIAC friendly, BMC air filters, full exhaust, etc.

They will certainly play ball with you. To be fair, so will Park Place Porsche (in Dallas and Grapevine). I just prefer Porsche Plano, because I know their main tech really well and value his opinion. He has a psychotic attention to detail.

He is also the guy that I go to see in order to inspect my car for track work and setup.

In terms of GIAC specs, here is what they show. Mind you, specs will vary, based on other upgrades in your car.

If I remember correctly, this dyno was done on a stock car...

Hey there, I'm also in the DFW area. I got my 2020 C4S chalk/bordeaux at Grapevine Porsche. I wasn't aware that Porsche Plano will do aftermarket tuning. Your car looks awesome, I also had my wheel shop paint the red stripe on my classic wheels. Enjoy in good health.

Wow. Thats a light tune. M is at 150HP! I would go with M. Go big or go home...

Absolutely. If you want 150 more, you should go for it!

I’m using this C2S on track and I want all of my horsepower to be useful and to get to the ground. The report from my tech is that the car wants to break loose any chance it gets. With some better tires, it’ll be perfect for my needs.

For my purposes, adding 150hp to my rear-wheel drive 992 won’t make much of a difference. There will be tons of oversteer when I’m coming out of tight turns. I’m not drag racing. So, my needs are going to be different.

I’m in the same boat as you are. I want a tune for road course work that needs to maintain the stock linear power delivery. I just hate getting pulled by the corvettes on the long straights. I think the GIAC tune might be perfect. Too much gain might result in overheating etc.

Wondering if the GIAC option better for the MT? Could it be damaged by too much torque/HP? The GT3 uses the 6spd and there is presumably a reason MT not offered on the TT . . .
