I think it has good ground clearance stock. Do you have PASM or S-PASM? If PASM for sure you don’t need it. If S-PASM you very likely don’t need it. I am lowered 1” lower than S-PASM and don’t have FAL and don’t miss it at all, but I’ve also driven lowered cars my whole life too.

Also, the S lip is $250 to replace. Cheap if you bang it up. If you have the sport design front bumper it’s a painted lip and it costs like $500 then you have to paint it. So that’s another thing to consider.

Thankyou for the feedback!

I have the PASM that come with the sport pack. I have a lowered A4 and its not an issue but I was a little nervous with the 992.

Good to know its only $250, and will pass on the FAL option.

Is that your Red 992, its looks beautiful. I went with the AG with gloss black rims and black trim.

Yes. Thanks! If you’re used to driving lowered cars you will be fine.

.

Unless the lip is color matched to the car…like many of us have.

I ordered it on my build. But I live in NJ where we have terrible roads, and I live on a hill, so the extra clearance is nice as a lot of normal sedans will scrape getting out of my driveway if the driver doesn't know the exact right spot to exit like I do. Even still, I drive on roads with speed bumps that are way too large (and the road in front and behind has scrapes in the asphalt to prove it, along with areas with lots of pot holes.

When I got mine, I thought I would use it mostly over speed bumps in my area, but found out I absolutely need it getting in/out of my driveway and getting in/out of my local gas station…and angling helps, but still need a lift. 😎

I'm considering adding FAL to my current Carrera T order. I'm curious to see a pictorial overview of the system with component locations. My current understanding is that the 992 uses an electro mechanical/hydraulic type system. Are there any maintenance requirements such as periodic fluid changes? What type fluid is used? Any known common failure points at this time? What is the approx. added weight?
Thanks.

I have FAL, going on 2 years now, and no issues. i understand that Porsche has used FAL on a number of it’s top models for many years….

I’m not aware, nor have i read any reliability issues. That said, everything fails, eventually….but I don’t believe FAL is prone to failure or needing maintenance.

It's a closed system and as per say there is no maintenance/flush etc. required. It works flawlessly (except in very cold temps when says "FAL not available" however should the car be in the raised position it will lower it over 39 mph), lastly geo-location memory to raise and lower is absolutely perfect.

Yes it's electro-hydraulic compared to the GT3 which is pneumatic relying on PASM dampers powered by a compressor to lift the front. This system lifts it higher than the GT3 one.

FAL is my favorite option! I regretted not getting it on my first 911. I'll never buy another sports car without its

With FAL, my 992 TTS can make it out of my ridiculously graded driveway without any scraping. My M5 Comp scraped the rubber guards beneath the front bumper.

I am concerned a GT3 with FAL might not make it through my driveway safely. As others have said, the FAL on GT3 doesn’t raise as much, and, has less approach angle clearance.

Please see post #54 above. Lift is 1.1 inches on GT3 vs 1.5 inches on non GT3.

Appreciate the feedback. Couldn't really find any tech specs on the system. I did add FAL to my T build order today though. I'm in the, better to have it and maybe not need it camp...lol

What tech specs are you looking for beyond type of system and lift specs?

Everyone mentions the lip and ease/cost of replacing it, but I was curious, what about the underside of the car in general? Oil pan? Exhaust? Anything to be concerned about or is it all protected? I haven’t seen the underside of a 992, and am coming from a Taycan.
