Is it worth paying over sticker for used 992?

I am in the market for a 992 C2S or C4S. Every single car I have seen hold a few have asking prices 10-20k over sticker on a 2 year old car. Most have about 5k miles on them but the warranty is half gone.
I'm nervous to pay these prices because in a year or so everything could go back to normal and I could loose 40k overnight. I did get a $135 sticker car to 145k price but that's still 10k over.
Any suggestions? Who is actually paying over MSRP for a two year old 992?

I would do it, but that's me. I'm up there in years, so my enjoyment time is getting compressed every day. I also keep my cars a long time, so the depreciation is less a factor the longer you keep it. I wouldn't have considered this 2 years ago, but with the scarcity of cars nowadays, and my advanced yrs, I would be tempted. YMMV

You know what they say, the value of something is whatever people are willing to pay for it. Econ 101.
Only you can decide if it’s worth it, or not?

The problem is that it is worth it to someone else and that is what is going to set the market. In reality, no $100K+ car is "worth it". It comes down to whether this is the best use of those dollars for you - and only you can decide that.

Considering that asking prices for the previous 991 generation cars are hovering near MSRP for 5 YEAR OLD cars, and it starts to make sense.
Another thing to consider is these are "asking" prices; that doesn't necessarily guarantee they will sell for that. It may be worth biting on one or two you're on the fence about and seeing what you can negotiate.
But that just seems to be the world we live in. The other chance is that nothing does change, this is the new normal, and you waste another year or more on the sideline just to end up paying the same anyway.

Also consider that it is a CPO vehicle and, in addition to the remaining warranty, you get an additional 2 years of unlimited mileage.

Everyone has a different financial situation and life (health, age, marriage? kids, etc.) - so no one can answer that for you. It's a toy, not a necessity. Toys you use and play with for pleasure. If a particular toy causes you financial stress, then you are playing above your comfort level. Best to drop down a category or two. Would you feel the same about a Mazda Miata where a 20 % drop is about $ 5,000 VS $ 30,000? Probably not - so Comfort Level is important.
There is also a school of thought that says you might not be alive two years from now to worry about that resale price .... and enjoy the moment. Life does weird things to you when you least expect it. I tend to fall into this camp myself after a Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis years ago that looked like it was going to be fatal.
I don't personally think the market is going to fall out in two years, it will be a VERY long time, if ever, when you see large 911 inventories on dealer's lots. It will take an economic tsunami of some kind to alter the current situation.

If you want one now, it’s totally worth paying. This year’s market adjustments, ADMs, and prices over sticker will seem quaint as we get into next year.
Supply issues will be with us for a while. Inflation is very much on deck. Even after those problems are resolved, automakers and dealers have gotten very comfortable with this model. This stuff is here to stay.
It is the new normal. It’s not going back to the way things were.

Been there and I did it. I figured the tight supply will probably last for one more year and I didn't want to wait. The color was right but too many options I didn't need but better than waiting.

Only you can answer if if is worth it to pay the price. Don't count on things staying like this long term...Porsche is not Ferrari they want to make and sell as many cars as possible especially now to fund VWs electrification plans. Porsche doesn't gain anything from cars selling over MSRP so they have no reason to artificially curtail supply beyond what they will do to prevent the need for discounting. If you are willing to pay 10-20K over sticker you can probably get a new 992 allocation pretty quickly.
This situation is not unique to Porsche...there are quite a few cars that are selling for more used than MSRP of a new car. I see this situation lasting a few more months...once new car production returns to normal (latest reports say Honda/Toyota are there and VW/GM are increasing output), the media will shut up about car shortages, and that will burst the bubble somewhat and things will return to more normal (MSRP and reasonable waits for new cars). I don't think the easy discounts will return for a few years at best (or the next recession) as the industry will work its hardest to protect their margins.

I absolutely love these 911’s, I’m on my 3rd in 5 years. But there is no way I would pay MSRP or over for a used one.
