My local dealer is willing to sell me a base Carrera at MSRP without me trying to negotiate. Does that mean I can potentially get a 5%-7% off MSRP on the final price?

 

5-7% if you bring your pet unicorn with you. 7-10% if you also sprinkle pixie dust on his seat before he sits down.

Well, if you are getting an offer for MSRP and you like the car, I'd jump on it. Obviously, finding a discount would be awesome, but there really is no incentive for the dealerships to offer one at this point.
As crazy as it sounds, if you are getting MSRP........"don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

 

I got about 6-7% off on my 2017 C2S and was thrilled to pay MSRP for my 2022.

 

I got 3% off my 2021 992, and would pay MSRP in a heartbeat considering current availability (or lack thereof)

 

MSRP is the new floor. You won’t do better than that. If you get MSRP, you did good.

Paying over MSRP via market adjustment, additional dealer mark-up, and/or being forced to buy something like a watch with the car, etc is pretty typical.

If your plan is to wait it out, you will be disappointed. Dealers prefer this model. After doing this for a couple of years, there will be no going back.

 

Paid MSRP for a 992 base in August this year - I considered MSRP a "win".

 

If your expectation is that they should be giving you a discount then ask.....our answers dont really mean anything. My question back is, are you willing to pay MSRP?
From many threads here, Id say most would be surprised that any dealer would offer anything other than MSRP or plus so let us know the result and good luck.

 

I've mentioned this several times already but here goes again. Spend more time specking out the dealer than the discount. Get the OUT THE DOOR price not some figure that they then add all kinds of fees and taxes, if you're not averse to savings, insist on doing the plates yourself and avoid time, hassles and finding out as happened to me that your 992 is actually a 944.

As I said a discount is nice but it's nicer to ensure the honesty of who you're dealing with. Caveat emptor

I got 1k under MSRP in April on a 2022 Targa 4. That same dealer is not discounting at all anymore, and is charging market pricing on all but a Carrera or Carrera S. And the wait is 12 - 18 months.

When a Toyota Sienna is selling at $5k markup (and they can't keep them on the lot more than a couple of days), there's not much hope of getting anything better than window on a 911

 

Do people, and newbies in particular, even bother to read the threads on here? Seems like topic, after topic, after topic repeats itself with the same questions.

Regardless, what have you got to lose by trying to negotiate a lower price? Give it a shot.

 

I align with the rest above. I got 4.5% off my 2021 in March order for a June delivery.
