I love my GB so far, although I’ve considered whether I’m really up for a color this dark. Yes, it’s definitely not the darkest color out there but it is a helluva lot darker than my Rhodium Silver 991.2 and shows much more dust, dirt, and such.
I don’t mind the purple tones and they aren’t that noticeable in regular, daily life. The pics above (as well as a few of mine that I’ve included below) show things pretty well….it’s definitely blue but can show some purple occasionally. But I don’t care either way because I’ve always wanted a blue car and I’ve also been a fan of past purple Porsche colors, including Ultraviolet.
Vivid in the day and deep in the evening/night. One of the best blues by Porsche. Someone said the color reminded them of a dragon fly in the sun. Same
car below at different times of the day.
Thank you everyone for the great feedback! I think I will get 3rd GT Silver (not sure why Porsche killed Night Blue option). Metallic black is great too but then I would be going crazy cleaning it
I went back and forth on gentian, but decided to keep it. I always wanted a blue car but have never owned one. I was against silver at first, but my final choice came down to GT silver vs Gentian. I decided I want my first 911 in blue, and for me, gentian is the best available blue option. Order locks in 15 hours! I also have never seen a gentian 911 driving around in the wild, but I’ve seen GT silver numerous times. The gentian seems less common where I live.
GB has more personalities than James McAvoy in Split! Some may hate that. I think it is what makes it such a great color. I am still going with Chalk (I know - sort of the other end of the spectrum) but GB is a spectacular color and one of my favorites.
Same dilemma on GB for me too
Placed the order after going back and forth on GB and Chalk, but then I saw a GB Taycan in the wild and was blown away. It's such a dynamic color depending on the lighting.
There is a GB thread and the very first pic of the person driving it in the city at night looks amazing. This pic is the reason I went for GB and the spyder wheel combo
The purple bothered me at first, but the more I look at different 911 colors, the more I want the car to stand out...probably a big reason shark blue is the go-to on the gt3

That’s funny, this pic is also what first drew me to GB. I was going to go with chalk, but switched to GB after seeing this pic. Went with RS spyder wheels too. 1 more month before it shows up!

Are you in SoCal? All I see is GT, Black, Agate... my Gentian comes in February!
I had a 997 in Night Blue or Midnight Blue, whatever it was called in 2008. I was initially going to get that color again but realized the 992 variant of Night Blue was even darker and after seeing Gentian I made the switch in my build.
Why? Well because it was more dynamic. It really pops in the sun but is more like my 997 at night or under cloudy conditions, looking quite dark. Does it have more of a purple tone. Yes. I suppose, but it has great character.
I have a coworker who remarks how beautiful the color is every day that I drive it to work. I will say that if I had not gone with GB, it would have either have been Chalk, or quite possibly Carmine Red (though I don't think I would have previously thought I would ever go for a red). But to me, and to many, there are simply too many White, Black, and Silver cars on the road period to get a 911 in those colors.
