Has anyone checked the box for ppf done by Porsche? I am doing the European delivery of my gts coupe in the Spring and am worried about potential stone chips over the 8 days driving through the Black Forest and various passes in Switzerland into Italy. Do they do a good job? It is not an inexpensive option and not sure it’s worth doing or just do it when the car gets back with paint protection and then get ceramic coating by local providers. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It seems to me that most people opt for their own local PPF guy to do the work. One suggestion would be that you purchase a box of XPEL film and cover the hood, front bumper, rocker panels etc. It isn't terribly expensive, you can do it on the spot and it is very effective. Your new tires will be throwing all kinds of stuff up and who knows what might be ahead of you kicking up stones. I see alot of cars on the race track covered in the tear off sheets. The XPEL would help save the paint and your piece of mind. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice I have seen videos of people who have applied their own temp ppf with mixed results and at the same time I have not seen many people who have said they checked off the box for the Porsche factory to apply the ppf, which makes me pause and look for another solution. Thanks again for replying and interested to hear from others.

My dealer specifically told me NOT to get the factory PPF and recommended a local, very skilled, independent shop that they use often and customers really like. My GTS is getting dropped off there for a full wrap before I even see the car... well, maybe before I actually drive the car is a more accurate description

I am seeing a theme here that I kind of knew in my gut but just wanted confirmation. Thanks

In this instance, I would 100% have it done at factory. Car is going to enoucnter rocks during those 8 days, and you want to be able to mentally enjoy the trip. Something is better than nothing in this case.

sanity datapoint: i picked up my car without any ppf planned. my ceramic guy was out of country so i drove it commando for a couple weeks. then my ceramic guy came back and i dropped the car w him. he did a full paint correction and applied ceramic. paint was fine - no downside of driving without ppf.

unless you’re driving through construction sites every day, it’s just not that big a deal.

drove my 991.2 for 5 years without ppf and the paint was fine.

I am also curious why not more people pick the factory option..
Doing euro delivery for 16 days for my upcoming GTS (allocation cant come fast enough though) and considering doing the factory option and supplement uncovered areas after car gets here. Also doing the motorsport stripe on top of the PPF which will be done here as well.

Hoping to find people who've done factory PPF and ED though for first hand experience.

I bought a few boxes of the xpel tracwrap and will put that on the front, mirrors and rear fender. Planning on using some windex and a rusty scissors. Will not look professional at all but will get the job done until I get the car back home. This is assuming my EA goes through in October with all of the delays everyone seems to be facing. Lots of 1st world problems going on right now.

After long internal debate, as the lock date is approaching (Sept. 5th) I am switching from Pure Black to Pure White, first white car since 1991 (it was my mom's FIAT Panda!). It is going to be my daily drive and 5/6 track days per year.
Option 1, no matrix, no GTS package with deviated stitching in red http://www.porsche-code.com/PPWDQE76
Option 2 with matrix and GTS stitching in red http://www.porsche-code.com/PP91XM66
I could live without Matrix while GTS package with deviated stitching is red is rather tempting.
Delivery late October, any comment is welcome.

I vote Option 2 but would (controversially perhaps) pick the matrix headlights over the interior package, if selecting only one.

I posted my build earlier in this thread but, before it locked, I made some large changes Changes are done. Photo below is not my car (it is Hadlyme's car) and an identical exterior build to the car I have coming... and my current favourite photo of a similar build

4 GTS
7 speed manual
Gentian Blue Metallic... Love this color. Very different depending on lighting. Not many photos actually capture it properly.
Black leather with Speed Blue deviated stitching (saw an actual car with this color combo and LOVED it... hence needing to change my build)
Premium package
18 Way seats w/ ventilation
Glass sunroof
Aerokit in gloss black
FAL/RAS
Tach and chrono in white
Sunvisors, roof and seat belt trim in Race-tex
Heated Wheel in Matte Carbon (leather)
Matt carbon trim

I really think the black leather, blue stitching, carbon fibre trim with white dials and race-tex roof looks very nice inside.

I'm super excited for it to arrive... just in time to store it for the winter

Yes, V200. My SA told me there is a delay related to leather interior but nothing else. Wonder if it is different by country (Canada, US, etc)? Either way, it arrives when it arrives and as long as it is before next March, I'm happy
