I do not believe that in the CarWow comparison they were on the same tire…Huge difference. When you factor that if they were on the same tire the results would have been very interesting. As previously mentioned in another post this was a small tight track and the GT3 was not able to really exploit many of its advantages…..The torque produced by the Carrera really gives it a fun chance in these conditions.

Whatever the circumstances (or excuses), the base 992 is so capable now for 99.9% of porsche buyers. I know it stings because we all always want more. But tis the reality…

For those that need it, there is the hefty almost 6 figure premium for you to be the top dog!

Regardless of tire choices, anyone basing their purchasing decision on lap times is running a fool’s errand.

There’s so much more that differentiates a base and a GT3 than simply how fast each car can go from Point A to Point A.

Yes, you’re paying for a specific type of experience with the GT3.

True. Nonetheless, I find it very valuable, especially when choosing slow tracks, to use as one of many
metrics for assessing a sports car.

It's so rare that professional testers will swap tires in order to equal the playing field across multiple vehicles. I wish that would happen more often.

The interesting thing to me about these specs is that the sticker & wider tire of the GT3 only gave it .03 more lateral G's on the skid pad. That is not very much at all of a difference.

Just for comparison - with a driver mod (Steve Sutcliffe who is very quick) on the same track the GT3 did 42.2 and the Turbo S 42.8

It’s actually not that surprising. The more aggressive the tire, the more it needs heat to generate grip. On a skid pad run there isn’t sufficient time to build up heat and it can be possible for an aggressive tire to generate less grip than a less aggressive one.
