This is the Function First shift **** I just put on my 992 manual GTS. Black delrin. Love it.
Sorry I am a bit confused but can I change just the shift **** to this and not the entire shifter? If so what all is involved with installation? On my BMW it just popped off by hard pulling up, is this **** threaded on? TIA
Yes, you can replace the shift **** only. This video shows you how to install the Function First Classic shift **** (the process is exactly the same for the 992):
Note: Once the shift boot is separated from the center console, you will need to grip a plastic collar that secures the shift boot to the shift rod and turn it either clockwise or counter-clockwise (can’t remember which) while pulling it off.

You will probably notice changing the shifter more than the shift **** as a positive ROI, though I remain a big fan of Function First as well. The stock shift **** in the 992 isn’t quite as bad as the stock shift **** in the 991.
Numeric is like night and day vis-a-vis the stock shifter.
IMO.
Function first ***** are really good but if you live in colder climates they get freakin cold. Found Myself her in Chicago wearing light weight gloves in the colder weather
Motorin Mark, I only replaced the shift ****. The video Andy 2021 posted is the same one I watched before installing. The box mine came in had a velcro piece that was used to secure the leather boot to the shift rod/tube that came in the box (whatever it is called). Worked very well, nice and secure. In the box I got, there were 4 allen screws that hold the rod/tube in place. I tightened/untightened/tightened a few times to get the shift **** aligned perfectly (so shift pattern on top of **** looks right).
