Default Replacing wheels , alignment?

I'm not thrilled with the base wheels on the Carrera I'm buying (bought car from dealer stock), I would eventually like to upgrade to OEM Carrera S wheels or sport classics (from 19/20 to 20/21) when increasing wheel size in the OEM family is it just a bolt on affair or do you need to get an alignment done? is there a market for the base 19/20 wheels?

Why not keep the base wheels and buy a high quality set of HRE forged wheels that are far nicer than OEM ? Then trade the car with the base and sell the HRE's or find a buyer who wants both (winter/summer set) ?

Simple bolt-on, no need for alignment.

Before you upsize your wheels to +1, you need to check with Porsche. Unless height of tires remain the same, even a small difference might impact several systems on the car related to braking, possibly wet mode etc.
A few years ago all we worried about was impact on speedometer accuracy.

If you look at the overall diameter of the tires that come factory on the 19/20 vs. 20/21 wheels I'm confident you'll find they are essentially the same. Due to that, the car doesn't really "know" any difference between those 2 wheels. Therefore, the car will be happy and fine. I'm a fairly new Porsche owner but I've worked on cars and been an enthusiast for a long time - as in about 50 years now. These forums are a GREAT source of information - but you have to be very careful and read everything with somewhat of a jaundiced eye. There are posts providing excellent information - and then there are posts that are frank misinformation. Sometimes the misinformation is stated so confidently and with such bravado that it sounds like "fact". I am sure the factory 19/20 wheels have value used but there is an inherent hassle in selling old wheels. If you live in an area full of Porsche vehicles they should be easy to move. If you don't then local sales are unlikely and you'll have to ship them. That's expensive unless you have access to economy shipping options and you'll need boxes. Think about talking to the dealer to see if they'll make you a deal on switching them out now. Good luck with all.

Keep in mind the ride quality of 19s and 20s is going to be better than 20-21s because of the sidewall height. Carl

Absolutely true - but for the same reason the handling will be crisper with the 20/21 combination. Choices!!!!

19/20’s are more than adequate for street use.

Also dependent on the tire.

True - thank goodness we don't have runflats. I went through that non-sense with C6 and C7 Corvettes.
Interesting bike by the way - I have an old Colnago President (look it up, 2005 vintage) and currently ride a Pinarello F10.

As someone who owns both a 19/20 set and a 20/21 set, there’s no substantive difference in ride quality. It has much more to do with the specific tires and tire pressure. By any measure, the tire fitments for either wheel size are extremely low profile tires.

The 992 PCM has different settings for the 19/20, 20/21 wheel sizes along with the specific type of tires, load, and pressure. If you swap them yourself, be sure to go to the Car->Control->Vehicle->TPMS screen to update the settings.
