Take GTS allocation or wait for S???
I currently own a base cabriolet (which I adore) and have been searching and hassling all the dealers in my area for an S, because I want to trade up and because I really want the manual.
As you may know, there are absolutely no S allocations (at least in the East coast) to be had, and in the last round, none of the DC area dealers got an S allocation.
But today I was unexpectedly offered an allocation for a GTS, with delivery in June. Leaving aside whether this is real (I'll find that out trow), what do people think? I've read a lot and watched a lot of videos and, with the exception of Nick Murray (whom I generally think isn't bad, but in this case, I don't think he actually drove the car so...), it seems most reviewers think the GTS is the bomb or close thereto.
Moreover, there is the "bird in the hand" argument. Meaning, it could be months before I get an S allocation.
Thoughts, insights, brilliance, very much appreciated.
Thanks.

GTS will be great. Incrementally better then the S. Porsche is good at that. If you like what comes with the GTS, get it. If that stuff doesn’t matter to you, I would wait. I personally do not like centerlocks, alcantara, etc so I went with an S.
@Crester and @TrackJunke I'm not sure I care much about the centerlocks--I'm at a point where I'll just pay to flat bed it if I need to. Re the new RaceTex I'd love to get some feedback on that--looks pretty cool to me but ....

Porsche GTS models are essentially S with a package of discounted options, black wheels and lots of alacntara/Racetex. If the options are appealing, they are a good deal, at least in Porsche terms. If the option package works for you, I would jump on the opportunity. You may wait a long time for an S.
@OttawaSteve many thanks, I think that's the point. I was really surprised to hear from several local dealer that they go zero nilch nada S allocations the last go round. But what I don't get is that it's easily high 160s, low 170s to spec the GTS, whereas my S build, pretty speced out is mid-150s. Also, if one ditches the RaceTex, what are the other good options? I must say, I do like the GTS embroidered on the seats.
It comes down to the price that you’re able to get on that GTS, ie market adjustment or additional dealer markup involved. If the dealer is willing to let you buy the car at MSRP, take it!
If it’s being marked up $25-30k, pass. They may be in demand, but they’re not that special.

Have you checked out of state to see availability? I live in Texas and was able to get a Cab S allocation within weeks of inquiring (at MSRP). This was during the summer; my car was built and will be arriving at the end of December.
I’d echo what others have said. Totally depends on pricing vs MSRP and how much the $20k matters to you. They’re ultimately going to be very similar experiences.
I have an S and love it/feel no need to upgrade to a GTS. But, in your shoes I’d just go GTS.
