My new 2022 Porsche GTS will be delivered in 15 months
First: I got turned down for a GT3. It's OK as I have only bought $300K+ of 911's. I am a C- customer.
I got a code on a new 2022 (2023?) Porsche 911 GTS. It is ~$152,590 MSRP. It's all great yet the delivery date will be 12-18 months. It's not a guarantee but a prediction. I pay a $10K deposit to get locked in.
Just saying as I would never lock in a price of a house, land, stock or bond that may be delivered in 12-18 months. Why should I start now? [/Rant]
I am trying to get another gas engine car before the EV cars take over.
My current Porsche:

Can you clarify on what you mean when you say you got a code. Does that mean that the allocations for the GTS have been released in the US? Seems odd that you would get one of the first allocations and still be 12-18 months out.

It's just the way it happens today. I can talk to a guy since I have previous buys. There is a big long line to even order a new Porsche sports car. The Porsche SUV trucks are easier to order.

You go to Porsche.com and build your car. You can then create a code on the website of your build.. You send it to your dealer. They determine their own allocation.

I know how it works. But that code means bubkis. By that measure, I am in line for about 45 Targas. So you are saying your dealership - where you have these previous buys - is requiring a $10K deposit to put you on their list? If so, it is most definitely time to find a new dealer.
I am also very happy with my dealership relationship. I am not changing although I have two dealers in less than 5 miles from my house. My wife likes the local Mercedes dealership (three more nearby). Mercedes-Benz has the best service.
