Default On the fence about trading my 992

I have a nicely configured Chalk 992S coupe. Got it in April, put about 1500 miles on it.
For some reason, I’m not in love with this car. I’m thinking of pretrading for a 992S Cab allocation. My dealer will give me 142k for my 145k MSRP car.
The things I’m not crazy about:

coupe. I used to have a 997 cab. Loved that car. I got the coupe this time because i figured that i would get more days driving in it, but guess what? I only drive it in good weather anyway

Chalk is kind of cool but I love the Carmine Red

14 way seats are not comfortable for me, I’m 5’9” 160, i should have gotten the 18 way, snugger fit.

i started to configure another care and holy s***! Some options that were included seem not to be now. I spec’d the 7M and it used to include SPASM and sport exhaust. Is this no longer the case?? Also, if I do a tan interior, is the full leather version worth the 4 grand? The standard and the premium tan look almost identical on the configurator.
im now remembering what a slippery slope the configurator is!

Life is short, you might want to consider loading up a Carmine Red Cabriolet with ALL the options you have ever wanted or dreamed about, original budget be damned.
We don't know how long we'll be here, but your car "as you like it" could be here within a year!
Just keep it a long time so you "get your money out of it".

I planned an inexpensive build on a new 992 too but kept adding on as Covid progressed and this bad thing happened and another bad thing happened to me or friends or family. I'm living for ... today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Cheers and good luck.

SPASM and PSE have never been included with the manual transmission. There is a seperate sports package for them on manuals, but you've always had to option either that package or one of the items. For disclosure I have a '20 MT coupe with SPASM.

It seems to me if you special order a car and put up with the long wait you ought get exactly what you really want. All the cars I special ordered I kept for at least a decade since it perfectly satisfied my desires but then that’s me as I usually buy used CPO cars.

I special ordered the car that I have but I had never sat in a 14 way seat prior to getting the car. They are a lot wider than I thought they would be. I have a 2017 Macan with 14 way seats and they are snug and comfortable. Both cars have ventilated seats. My wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to do this, but honestly, the anticipation of the new car is pretty fun! The person who buys my 992 is gonna be pretty damn happy though - I labored over the spec on that car.

If you have put only 1500 miles on it in six months, you clearly don’t love it. Trade it in and get what you want.

I put nearly that many miles on my 911 on a road trip earlier this week.

Biggest thing to me would be how long you have to wait for the new car and is that an acceptable time frame. IF you've driven your current coupe sporadically maybe it is. Has your dealer provided an HONEST estimate of wait for an allocation?

We are averaging 900 miles a month. If it had a microwave, I’d live in it.

I see you’re in Duxbury. Did you buy your 992 through Porsche Norwell? Is your 992 a manual as well? What is your build/spec?

If you are willing to as you say “pre-trade” your car now then you are in the best bargaining position available in this crazy market. Dealers are desperate for late model used Porsches to sell as they can sell them for 20% over original MSRP. Your current car is a very valuable commodity, use it accordingly.
I suggest you contact as many dealers as you can to negotiate a trade for an existing allocation for the model you want. Do not give your car up for a future allocation as it may be a long wait. Meanwhile the dealer has sold you car off immediately, made an incredible profit and you wait with nothing.

p.s. I had 2018 chalk GTS and sold as chalk can look depressing in certain lights, got a Guards Red GT3.That was not a depressing car to look at.

Agree…grab the one you want, but don’t be without a Fun car, the waits are off the hook right now. Good luck!

Just left Hartford CT dealer. Ironically there is a customers Carmine Red Cab right out front and a retail GR Cab in the showroom just behind it.
Sealed my opinion that I like GR much better...(really noticed how S calipers dont match on carmine car)
Maybe if you drive fast enough, you can get there before Custo's Cmine is picked back up to compare!!
FWW, the GR C2 shows only 400 miles and was "certified". I think MSRP was $138K and selling now CPO at $145K....
They also have a BBB manual GT3 just delivered for custo who put deposit in 2016...IMO dont like swan neck, looks to fan boyish but otherwise car looks fantastic.

Ok very good points. I’ll post my maroney sticker here in a bit, but the thought of being without a car does make me nervous. I spoke to someone at Audi Norwell MA about possibly trading for an incoming R8 Spyder RWD. I sent them the maroney on my car and they were telling me that my car was selling for Bren 134-138 (145kMSRP). I was silently calling BS on that one. They wanted to give me 130k and charge 18k ADM on the Audi. I nicely told them no thank you. They came back with 140k trade. Still not gonna bite.
