Thinking of selling your 992? Is now the best time?

Traded my 2021 992 last week for a 2022 Jaguar F-Type….Jag dealer gave me what I paid for the 992, no questions….the Porsche dealer offered my $8k less than what I paid them 3 months ago…
I have to say that the Jaguar dealer was the most professional dealership that I have ever encountered in my years of buying cars. They made me feel like a VIP.
The dealership is Darien Jaguar, in Darien, Ct. They also sell LandRover. As with Porsche, they have limited stock, in fact, they only had 2 F-Type Jaguars in stock, my coupe and one roadster. I mentioned my transaction in a previous Rennlist response, some of the Porsche family were naysayers about the Jaguar. I can tell you that this car is far superior to any Porsche that I ever owned (12 in total…most new, some preowned). While many were trouble free ownership, my last 3 Porsche purchases were not so. I had a 2019 Cayman with a PDK issue, ordered a 2021 Cayman GTS 4.0, after it was built and landed in the US, Porsche put a do not sell order on it due to
engine rods issue. My 2021 992 had electrical issues, including a starting failure, waited 3 hours for Porsche Roadside. The gentleman that Roadside sent had NO knowledge about the Porsche. He was dedicated and thru YouTube I was able to access the battery, and get on my way home. The next day, I contacted 2 Porsche dealerships for an appointment (including the one I got the car from), no one could see my car for 30 days!!!!! Totally unacceptable!!
I have 750 fun miles on the Jaguar, can’t wait for the “running in” period to be over (2000 miles), to truly enjoy this fine piece of machinery.
Best of luck to the Porsche family!!! Maybe I see some you at local car shows….

Beautiful car. Before I bought my 2016 M4, I put down a deposit on a new F-type. IMO, the thing the F-type has going for it, over the 992, is it’s looks…and less expensive. But over the years, I’ve owned 2 jags….and I never found them to be reliable Anyway, enjoy your new ride.

What was the mileage on your 992?

I had a 2011 XK-R Black Pack Edition. Nice car. Considered the F-Type, but 2 issues. Reliability. And the F-Type stopped being offered in a Manual a few years ago. 2018 or 2019 was the last year if I recall.
Nice looking car. Enjoy.

I bought my 2020 CS below list (CPO) and was recently offered $10K more that I paid by a dealer. However, that doesn't take into consideration the winter wheel set and the ceramic coating I added. The small profit I would make would be far less than a replacement car that I might want would cost me. If I had no need for the car, maybe selling it and selling the wheel set would make me a few dollars in profit but not enough to give the car up right now.

For me, I don’t need the 992…I have several other cars I can drive. I don’t need the money, or have any debt owed on the car.
For me, I’ve always wanted a Porsche, and now I have one. I had to wait the better part of a year to get it. I thoroughly enjoy driving a car that gives me a thrill every time I start it. A car that far exceeds my driving skills, and I know that when I floor it, I pretty much own the road. Even now, 5 months after I took delivery, neighbors still come up to me and want to talk about the Porsche.
Maybe one day I will want something faster, something better handling…but for the foreseeable future, I can;’t see that happening, as this is a car that is far better at delivering driving performance, than I expect to be able to handle.

Not sure if this is an error, but I just saw this pretty barebones C2S listed for nearly $30K above MSRP. Similar car was $20k less in the summer. This is in Canada, where typically winter is a buyers market. Not this year it seems.

Just pulled KBB trade in values on my 2 SUV's and they're both worth more than what I paid new nearly two years ago.Have never seen this before, this definitely won't be permanent.

Please correct me if I’m wrong…but if you live in the US and you sell your 992 at a profit…don’t you have to pay short term capital gains tax? Assuming you have owned the car less than 12 months of course.
