I've tried this method. I always end up having to go back and re-clean them. Plus then I have the aggravation that the darn kid was not as **** as me (23 and me says he is my son, but I'm just not sure).

PS - I do think these wheels are actually easy to clean - my car was ceramic coated recently and I'm finally into the "You are allowed to wash the car now" and I'm curious if they will just clean up with water now....

Mine are ceramic coated. It makes the job easier and no harsh chemicals are required, but it’s still a lot of surface to clean.

I started "cleaning" my parents cars, taking them on the usual joyride in order to dry them.

Just water, no. But probably with just car wash soap and a microfiber. It's definitely easier overall with the CC.

My biggest mistake was getting the Spyder RS wheels. They only look nice when they are clean, after a couple of days driving the brake dust makes them look dirty and thus the whole care looks bad. I had mine coated with a nano coating called Tsunami and high pressure water does a very good job cleaning them but to keep the car looking nice I would have to wash them every two or three days. If you have a washer at your home I guess you could live with them.

I don’t understand. Either I got special brake pads or I brake like a baby (or both)I have zero dust and my wheels always look great. Can you post pics of yours?

That hasn't been my experience with them. This what mine looked like about 2000 miles into a roadtrip. Yes, there's some brake dust visible, but they clearly still look awesome.

...and this is what they looked like after I cleaned off almost 4,000 miles of road grime when I arrived home.

Not sure why you'd say that. I love these wheels because apart from loosing a little shine they look the same after a couple of weeks driving as they do when just cleaned. Much better than silver wheels which really show brake dust and road grime.

Some brake dust? Those things are thoroughly coated.

Honestly, I can't imagine having to clean the RS Spyder wheels on a regular basis.

if that's "thoroughly coated", what is this? my old m5 after a week or two of neglect during winter. thankfully, i am not cursed with needing my car to be spotless at all times.
