992 quality control issues: when will they be resolved? Here is a compilation.

12 months of extremely happy ownership, with no issues. The only issues I had were shortly after delivery when it was throwing 5-7 different CELs. Local Porsche dealer kept it overnight because they couldn't find anything, other than when they got it it had a loose battery terminal. They fixed that and I haven't had any issues return.

I am looking to buy a 992 carrera S with 19,000 miles. The price out the door is $168,000. Seems like a ton of money with all these problems that seem to be with the 992. Does anyone know if the problems have been solved, Random check engine light,
windows not working. Should I go ahead and buy the car .... I live about 2 hours from the dealership.
I am starting to lean toward the Carrera 991.2
What percent of cars do you think have these electrical gremlins.

With all due respect the F-Type is an 8+ year old design that's due for replacement in 2022. Jag's are hardly the epitome of reliabilty either but granted the F-Type looks and sounds magnificent. A good friend of mine owns one in The Netherlands and his videos of Autobhan blasts are great to watch. Or I should say listen to.
Their next sport's car swill be fully electric.
On another note, I've had a 2017 SVR for 13 months and no issues at all. Not once in service and when I went for the first maintenance I traded it in.

I've had a 2016 F-Type V6 for 5 years, zero issue. Sold it last Nov. and paid deposit for 992 right after.

So glad you found my thread, and started your own on this subject, which I read.
While the 991.2 probably does have better quality control and in some areas better build quality than the 992 (i.e. interior), the list of improvements in the 992 is prodigious.
See post from Peterdouglas below for a great Porsche document with 992 improvements (I unknowingly posted a dead link...thanks Peter D!)
The body structure is a bit less than 25% improved in terms of rigidity measured in Newton meters per degree in the 992 versus the 991.
Safety is almost certainly significantly improved, although as you probably know crash test data is not available for the 911.
On balance the improvements I believe, even with the increased faults of the 992, favor the 992 heavily.

Glad you are still around the forum. Yeah this has been interesting . I love the power and the neat technical stuff on the 992.

The 992S is a major upgrade over those vehicles in all areas except exhaust sound, IMHO. I have not had any of the specific problems either of you list in your original posts, so far…..knocking on wood sound. No electric or electronic issues at all.
Patek- Electrical gremlins will appear in many cars if you have a battery going bad as it will not hold the required charge. My 997.2S had PCM acting up. Replaced the 5 year old battery and all problems solved. If you are concerned about electrical issues, you also might want to stick with the AGM battery and avoid lithium battery. Search this forum for multiple threads concerning lithium battery issues.

I have owned 2 v8 Jaguar F-Types - Sedan and Roadster. Pretty good build quality but they cut corners too. Like the gas lid latch which I had to replace several times and seatbelt retraction issues. But I did enjoy the F-Type. Reliable and good exhaust note. But I do really enjoy my 992 S Cabriolet. My last Porsche was a 1989 911 Cabriolet that I regretted selling. I think all brands have issues and sometimes you unfortunately draw the short straw. Hope the F-Type serves you well.
