Here is a 911R in GT Silver with silver stripes but unlike how the configurator shows it, this silver stripe is lighter in tone than the body of the car..

I like it but like you, OP, I wasn’t sold on the idea due to a lack of images of actual cars. The silver decal does appear to be lighter than GT Silver and would likely stand out subtly. If you don’t like it, you can always remove it.

I agonized over the same question when I ordered mine. I don't regret the silver decal on GT Silver at all. Depending on the light, it can look light or dark. Either way, I still like it 4 years later

 

95% of the time the silver decal is ghosted. I hope this helps you...

Suncoast Parts sells the decals that go all the way across for the 992. Available in silver and black.

I like this shop, he ships fast even though its in Europe, his side stripes are 2-part, so you can use the "tail" or not as you like, his vinyl is fresh and applies easily, and he's inexpensive. https://autodesign.shop/collections/carrera

My 992 stripe from this company, I did not use the second part to extend it.

 

Not silver, but I found this image from a sales posting published by Porsche Center Reading. I find this look classy with an understated sportiness.

The stickers are in vanadium gray, but non-metallic which makes them pop slightly on the vanadium gray metallic body paint.
