Default Wait for 60th Anniversary 911?

New member here. I've decided to purchase my 2nd Porsche, this time a C4S. I see that the 60th anniversary of the 911 is coming up in about a year or two. I'm trying to decide if I should purchase a 2022 model, or wait until the 2023/2024 models are announced, as Porsche may choose to celebrate that milestone with special options, upgrades, etc.

What are your thoughts on what the company may do for this anniversary?

What kinds of upgrades do you think are worth waiting 2 years for?

Neither the 40th anniversary 911 nor the 50th offered anything earth-shattering: mainly powerkit and body tweaks (turbo snout on the 40th and wide body from the 4s on the 50th). With 1963 cars for each edition worldwide they’re not especially rare. Expect a 60th anniversary model - if they make it - to follow the same formula. Aside from body tweaks that only a Porschephile would pick up on and model identifiers on dash, door sill, headrest and deck lid, there’s nothing much to distinguish them from regular 911s.

If you already had a 40th and a 50th, adding a 60th to the collection would be way cool…otherwise just snag a production 992 configured the way you like it.

I’ve never felt the anniversary models were that special and had any enhanced value. Build what you want as any anniversary model may have options that don’t enhance the driving experience.

I've decided to wait for the 100th anniversary model - it should be very special.

I’ll probably be dead by then so choosing the earlier option.

Looking at family history, I might make it to 2050.

Hi, Tupper. I was thinking about special heritage treatments like interior options or exterior colors, perhaps options that become standard offerings, or just special badging for that extra cachet.

Yes, life is short and I'm thinking it would take something very special to compensate for missing out on 911 excellence for two more years. Just thinking it through to avoid buyers remorse.
