Thus it’s NOT marketing gimmick. Just because too many folks bought a high performance sports car to show off at bingo while driving well below the speed limit doesn’t make the car’s performance features a “gimmick”. It’s as much a “gimmick” as any other feature that gives it an edge over its rivals. People pay attention to 0-60 times as much as any other features, we don’t all buy this car to polish it 13 times a week and take pictures of it.

I have it on mine (4,500 miles) and have never used it. I have not been in a position where I could use it. The car has enough acceleration for me in sport. If you are going to race the car then it would be a must.

i totally agree, i have owned probably 35 porsches, probably half of those where new, the day i drive it off the lot i drive it like i stole it, never an issue, i always laugh about the "break in", only concern i have ever had with break in is a engine rebuild or a new engine, all these cars are tested before they are sold

Just a reply to your generalization that “all” who don’t use it are boring. I might be able to wiggle into an F1 and would love to give it a whirl but they would need to get the saw to get me out. 🤣

I had the opportunity (challenged) this morning, to open it up a bit….not so much a launch control start is it was a running start. In any event….had a newish (no idea what year or model) Corvette ridding my *** while out on a leisurely Sunday morning drive. I basically ignored him until we finally got to a double lane, straight piece of road (maybe 2 miles straight run?). I was familiar with the road and wasn’t worried about traffic or [police on this stretch. In any event, as soon as we arrived at the double lane portion of the road, he roared past me and continued accelerating away from me at a fast clip…. It wasn’t;’t a question of him just wanting to pass me, he wanted to race. So, thought this might be as good time, as any, to see what the 992S has. I didn’t even have to floor it, and shied away from red lining…but it didn’t take long before I caught him, and then waived as I went by, with ease..at about the 1/4-1/2 mile.
Not a boy racer. Too old for that chit, but boy do I love how this car gets up and goes.

8500 miles on my 2020 (Feb 2020 delivery) and I tried LC for the first time last weekend. Took me several tries to get a good one. To confirm, in Sports+ do you mash the brake completely to the floor and then the accelerator completely to the floor? Several times the engine rpm would fall off despite my accelerator being pressed which didn’t feel right at all.

I waited until ~1K miles before an LC.
I think LC is a great showcase of what makes the 911 great (or part of it). It shows the advantage of a rear-engine car, Porsche's commitment to perfected systems, and Porsche's overbuilt components.
My previous powerful RWD cars did not offer that. They were difficult to engage, inconsistent, mostly just spun the wheels, and limited my launches.
Yes it can get old and yes handling is more important to me. But it's a fun experience that showcases to passengers the Porsche advantage.

The best part of Porsche’s launch control is that 1) it doesn’t break the warranty, 2) you don’t get dinged for doing a lot of them. The same isn’t true for other manufacturers.

That is not a substitute for a proper break-in process. Research the other threads, including articles quoting Porsche engineers.

Throttle to the floor (do this step quickly)
At about 4500 rpm or so you will see a blue thingy light up saying "Launch control active"
Release the brake quickly.
Smile.
