Never owned a Fox body Mustang. I had 1966 K-Code in high school. Obviously you can't tune those electronically.

I "chipped" late G series 911s. I monkey couldn't do that.

At some point you should realize you can't BS your way thorough stuff on this board. Folks here are too worldly, while you are not.

I had the identical car and even same year red Mustang GT Fastback K-code in high school into college. Fun car until the frame rails rotted out.
Gotta ask you what you are so angry about?

Too funny.
Hope he gets over what ever is up his ***. Life is way to short to get nasty over ECU testing.

The point I was making at least from experience here is that I find it extremely hard to believe that CA has come up with a device that instantly examines scores of ECUs from different years and various manufacturers and then determines what parameters have been modified from stock on a medley of different control units and then determine if it is has been done in a "non compliant" fashion. This world is nowhere near as simple as you obviously believe.
My expectation is that this would be a simple CVN (CRC32) check against the national CAL ID database, which has been maintained by manufacturers in CA effectively since 2005 (and I think also at the federal level, since '08/'09). This is a basic DB query that would require no complex evaluation of any other code on the ECU, nor any magical devices. Users could in principle spoof valid (i.e. stock) CVNs (under threat of penalty), in which case more sophisticated evaluation would be required, but I would be surprised by that level of implementation (it's government, after all).

That would be nice if it lasts. However, aside from poor data quality, this sort of thing is a recognized shortcoming of bi/annual testing programs. Hence, remote research / testing of remote ODB options, as RRich points out, or periodic roadside inspections, etc...

CA residents are now forced to navigate and accept this dangerous, disgusting, world while their legislators decide to go after the one in a bazillion guys who tunes his Porsche. Simply amazing.

This thread should be closed if the off-topic, irrelevant political commentary or the ad hominem criticisms don’t stop.
Those posters should stop detracting from the legitimate interests of others.

I believe there is an old adage that says: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." It's OK to criticize, but only if you have a solution specific (as in NOT political) to that which you have an issue with. Whining and finger pointing are not actionable solutions.

I agree but unfortunately there is someone here with an internet stalker mentality who has turned this into his own venue for personal attacks on those who he does not agree with as anyone who has read this thread can clearly see.
Big Brother examining your cars ECU to this degree is about as political(and on topic here) as it gets as I am sure most rational individuals would agree.

Well, hate to be the one to call a spade a spade... but you might have been the one to point out what you've read in the media about CA based on the topic of the thread, and then went out on a rant about how much you know about tuning and the "intricacies" of the OB2 port. And then when called out by a couple here, you backpedaled and still acted like you knew more, and concluded with homeless pictures you found on the internet. Please don't act like a victim.
