Just took delivery of my 992S MT 3 days ago. I thought it would replace my ND2 mx-5, but I thought wrong. As far as shift-action/clutch feel is concerned, the 992 is average to me just like my prior 987.1. I’ve owned 3 of 4 generations of miatas and an s2000, all I felt to be superior in clutch/shift feel over my 992/987. Also have a p100d with ludicrous but that torque doesn’t replace the excitement and engagement I feel with even the crappiest of MTs (and I have some crappy ones). A mustang gt350 MT feels far better than a 992 MT. I personally owned a 2017 mustang GT (diff MT than gt350) and even that was better than this 992. If any of you are truly blown away by this 7-speed, get in an ND2

The GT350 is impressive. It is more difficult to have a reliable clutch/transmission in a high torque application. The Corvettes suffer from the 650 lb ft of torque, so they always lacked a good feel. At least, that was the excuse.. I imagine the Miata and Honda are easier to deal with because of the low torque numbers.

You do realize that the PDK will become obsolete if the 911 goes full electric too right?

Why do these discussions always have to revolve around standing start acceleration as the primary definition of performance? Braking, lateral acceleration, control, etc - there is so much more to performance. Outside of the Turbos, 911 were never known for 0-60 acceleration. Sick of this crap. Obviously, too many people buy 911s for image and nothing else. Any idiot can punch an accelerator pedal and any car can be made to accelerate hard.

mmmm.. i dont want to keep talking about this but since you brought it up, the tesla plaid probably smokes any version of the 911 at the nurburgring. So yeah, you are wrong. And dont get me started with the roadster, and future Porsche electric cars to. The ICE age is over.
GT3s and GT2s from 991.2 and above can/have consistently beat that time. The new 992 gt3 did 6:55.
My p100d model S handles pretty good for what it weighs given the battery is on the floor, but it definitely DOES NOT like to be pushed in the twisties. Tesla’s are great for people who are unable to find the joy in driving. The performance models are only good for the 2-3 seconds you’re able to floor it before you’re way past the speed limit.
Tesla and Porsche both excel at what they do and both are at the top of their respective category/goals.
Keep in mind this thread is just about the MT 992

Incorrect. A model S Plaid did the Nurburgring in 7:23 on tires that are barely street legal. It also had fender flares to accommodate the wider patch, something they will NOT do on the Plaid models when it’s available to the public. Impressive feat by an EV, but that’s not “smoking any version of the 911”

Let's not forget, there was another thread where is was stated that Tesla was going to destroy Porsche. I have no problem with Teslas, might add one to the stable soon. But let's stop the hyperbole and keep the hard on for Tesla in the Tesla forum.
