Some of the GT3's design elements look like after market body kit to me, especially on the front apron near the turn signals. That said, the sound that thing makes more than makes up for it.

I'm a fan of the GT3 styling with the wing. #becauseracecar

I've never got the appeal of the touring model. For a track car, I want a big a$$ wing.

That was how I felt about the 991. I really like the wing on the regular 991.2 GT3. (Hell, I generally like wings/whaletails/ducktails on 911s in general.)

But the gooseneck wing on the 992 GT3 doesn't work for me. Unfortunately, the touring doesn't fix any of my major aesthetic complaints with the GT3. (Namely, the nostrils and the bumpers.) The wing was the least of my aesthetic concerns with the 992 GT3.

I could see the appeal of the GT3 touring if it had absolutely none of the aero elements of the normal GT3. Something like the GTS/SportDesign look but with the engine/suspension/gearbox of the GT3. Something more hardcore but not necessarily fully track-focused.

Then you would have a spectrum of performance and track optimization, where the touring is the least track focused, the regular GT3 is a blend of track and street focus, and the GT3 RS skips all compromises and is as track focused as a street legal car can be.

Can someone tell me - is the rear track of the GT3 wider than the Carrera? Different fenders?

GT3 is 0.1 inch wider with the mirrors out with a 0.2 in longer wheelbase. Basically the same as a Carrera.

Turbo/TTS is wider and I suspect the GT3RS will share the basic dimensions of that car.

I can’t really find anything to complain about on the styling of the GT3, GT3T, Turbo, or Turbo S. On the Carrera, the only thing I can’t stand is the bacon strips (3rd brake light) 🥓. Every time I see that feature, I can’t help but do a facepalm 🤦‍♂️.

It's distinctive and less disruptive to the design at the rear of the car than other potential solutions. The 992 Carrera and TT/TTS cars need those vertical slats to get air over the intercoolers -- it's a good solution from an engineering standpoint as well. The 11 theme back there is a nice touch. Most importantly, no one is going to miss it. Porsche put a bit of thought into not getting rear ended in this car.

The nostrils really bother me. It looks like Michael Jackson when his nose fell off.

If I was getting a 992 GT3, I would get the one with the wing, because it's more visually balanced with the front of the car.
Per Motortrend's Jonny Lieberman, it's also substantially lighter without the rear spoiler mechanism found in the touring..

IMO, it is very disruptive to the design. You’re right that nobody is going to miss it though (because it sticks out like a sore thumb).

You can still have vertical slats without a vertical brake light. Here is a photo of the back of a 991, which had vertical slats and a horizontal third brake light on top. Looks so much better than those bacon strips.

Agreed. I think the gooseneck looks fine. I actually don’t like the look of winged cars in general, but as far as wings go, the gooseneck looks good to me.

Supposedly, the gooseneck also improves airflow because there are less obstructions below the wing.

Nostrils hands down is the best visual feature of the GT3 imo.
