Dealers charging over MSRP

Why is Walmart so busy?

Agreed. That said, I recall discussion of discounts on earlier threads wherein some thread participants advocated for not pursuing discounts, citing unfairness to sales agents who need to make a living. I'll bookmark this thread the next time someone makes such an absurd claim. Remember, dealers will ADM any car if the market will bear it.

2 way street for sure where the potential buyer is driving the bus. The gotta have it now boys can take a bend over if they like but most will not when retail prices on these vehicles have reached current levels. I'm back in the market when it stabilizes and have no problem at all waiting. My first day with a new 992 will be just as sweet in a year as it would be today. No big deal and no reason to pay the sucker tax.

They will build a lot. My neighbor is a Porsche executive, and he laughs and says don’t pay over they will build. Waited 7 months and got my Speedster at MSRP first ask was 200k hahhah said yeah right, and it’s a numbers car.

*** Automotive released a study this week showing just how receptive buyers are to higher prices. Forty percent, *** found, would not shy away from being charged a 12 percent premium. Given that the average new-car MSRP in the U.S. is almost $42,000, that means four in 10 people would accept a price that’s $5000 more than what the sticker says.

I think people are ok with paying over as they are also getting more for their trades so for most, it’s a net zero game..........

I don't know how you do it but Walmart prices exactly according to supply and demand. They couldn't illustrate it more perfectly. How can one be successful in business without understanding basic economics?

Well to be fair, Wal-Mart does employ some loss leaders in their inventory.

I suspect you’ll find ADMs galore at the Mercedes dealership too. Heck, one of the local Toyota dealers is marking Corollas up almost $4k right now. They usually have 50+ of them, now they have 8 in stock.

But this isn't all just demand driven, there are shortages of things built into the supply/demand balance here. Semiconductors, even aluminum is seeing shortages. Part of what is creating this "hot market", are supply shortages, and the shifting of demand forward in time from the COVID bottom during which people weren't buying cars, and the factory wasn't producing them to place in inventory because the plant was closed for health reasons. You have trouble getting a Subaru Forester now also, that's not because there is a sudden demand surge for Subarus, its because of supply constraints.

Wally-World most certainly does! However, one would be well advised to check their isle and end cap prices against what's available elsewhere, before making any purchase.
