Default Apple Carplay lost after latest iOS update

I posted this in the turbo section but felt that this is not really a turbo specific issue so I'm re-posting it in the non-turbo 992 section.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I updated the operating system on my Apple iPhone 11 Pro to 14.5 (and then 14.5.1) and I immediately had trouble getting CarPlay to work on my 2021 992 TTS PCM as it had before.....

It worked as designed before the update and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem too?

I've unpaired the phone and deleted the Bluetooth connection, CarPlay connection, and PCM connection repeatedly. I am able to pair the phone again but CarPlay never shows up along the left edge column on the PCM and the data screen shows the car trying to connect to the phone switching back-and-forth between data and Bluetooth.

Anyone else or is this an isolated issue?

Thank you

Do you know if it happened after 14.5 or after 14.5.1? No issues for me on 14.5 but I haven't gone to 14.5.1 yet.

Both.

I had the problem with 14.5 and as I was fiddling with the phone realized there was an update for 14.5.1. So I went ahead and did the update and still same issue.

My next option is to reset the PCM to factory settings and try the whole pairing thing again. Perhaps I'll get lucky...

I would get a beta program 14.6 profile and try that if 14.5.1 doesnt work well.

From my experience, most of the CarPlay wonkiness is the iPhone. Try restarting the phone first, before futzing with the PCM side of things.

I've not had any issues with 14.5.0. FWIW I also had and still have the privacy option set to the "ask to track" feature that was new on 14.5.0.

However, while my phone does connect via Bluetooth to the car for all other functions, I have Car Play's Bluetooth function turned off for the Porsche. My CarPlay only functions with the phone plugged into the USB Port. I did this so that the PCM will/can use my Cell Phone's Hot Spot for all internet capabilities. If I leave Car Play free to connect to the PCM via Bluetooth, this combination prevents my iPhone from acting as the Hot Spot for the PCM. I have Verizon as my cell service provider. So on top of all this nonsense, Verizon can not be connected to the Porsche's cell phone data protocol (it's different than AT&T). I have unlimited data with Verizon and AT&T in the Los Angeles area is a very poor cell phone signal provider, so I'm a Verizon customer. Trust me, this nonsense made for a lovely combination that took a bit of time and trial and error to figure out. What fun technology.

FWIW, I just updated my iPhone to 14.5.1 and everything seems to work just fine . . . or at least as well as it's been working.

Unfortunately, my CarPlay is gone. Nowhere to be found after the update.

For those whos carplay stopped working... I noticed on the new 911 build generator that you have pay for carplay and android auto now. Could it be a glitch in that service pay to use carplay service that is causing it?

Check your wifi settngs. These can get modified with an update. the PCM uses 5Ghz to connect to Carplay.

New 992 owner here, and running 14.5. Works fine. That said, when I first tried to get CarPlay to work in my garage, It did NOT show up on the PCM. So after looking at the WiFi settings on my iPhone, I noticed that it did not automatically connect to my iPhone using the Porsche WiFi, and was still using my house WiFi signal....which apparently had a strong signal. Not sure if the iPhone automatically connects to the stronger signal...but once I connected to the Porsche WiFi signal, all was well.

On a related question - how long does the “free” CarPlay plan/subscription last, and where do you renew if you want to keep using? Thx.
