A year at least.

Between the Suez Canal fiasco and the current drought plaguing Taiwan, the semiconductor shortage is not going to end any time in the foreseeable future.

I have substantial experience in this industry and increasing capacity is very long lead time and very costly...at best several months for smaller volume bumps to a few years for new fabs typically.

Semi-conductor chip shortage expected to last into 2022.

Maybe our fascination with all things electronic is now starting to show its soft underbelly.

The 992.1 will be the rarest, production-constrained (it’s all relative) generation due to COVID-19 and chip shortages. And it will be the first generation since the 964 Turbo that has wide design and performance appeal. Should the 992.2 be the last non hybrid 911, some of us can look forward to a slower depreciation curve through the ownership cycle. This should be welcome news for existing owners.
Not to mention the aftermarket performance potential of this car to be realized in a few years could make this a very desirable generation of 911s.
cheers!

I've been waiting for a new model AV processor/amp for months now. It has state of the art EQ number crunching capability and refinement. They could sell a ton of these...if they could get enough semiconductor chips...but they can't. They're also having a hard time working out the bugs in their laptop based software. Any of this sound familiar? It's an Anthem product.
