Default OBD2 scanner for 992?

Is there an inexpensive-ish OBD2 scanner that will read to confirm and cancel CELs in 992 cars?

I believe any scanner will work it is an industry standard as regard the plug and codes used.

I'm still waiting. I have periodically checked (email & phone) with Autel, iCarSoft, Durametric as well as a few others. The answer(s) so far are either "No" or a "vague, sorta, kinda, maybe I'm not really sure" answer. Unless or until I can get a solid "Yes" from one of these folks I'll just sit and wait. I believe that Porsche may have changed some of the non-OBDII data stream (specified by the US Clean Air Act) . When they can reliably reset Maintenance Reminders and Emissions Monitor Flags (at the very least) . . . . I'll wait.

This will clear CEL except for "permanently" stored ones:
Amazon Amazon

I use in conjunction with iPhone and OBD Fusion app. If you're looking to just understand the code and clear the light, it will work. I don't believe it will fully erase history, though.

FWIW I got curious and decided to try an old Scan Tool I've had laying around for what must be like 8 or 10 years. It's really quite small, measuring maybe 2" Wide, 1" Thick and maybe 3" Long. It's made by Actron and it is called "U-Scan" Part/Model # CP9600 (picture below), and surprise, surprise it actually works flawlessly on my 2021 C2S. It is not capable of resetting the Maintenance Reminder Lights or cycling the ABS Control Solenoids, both of which are important to me in the long run. However, it does seem to do just about everything else. Basically it's a small module that plugs into the ALDL terminal and communicates with my iPhone via Bluetooth using an App they provide. Read Codes, Clear Codes, Check/Read Readiness Monitors. Read most if not all engine sensor input signals as the ECM sees them. (Comparing these values to the real world is what a diagnosis often begins with.)

Note: If you do choose to acquire this tool, be advised that you do need to turn off your phone's wireless system while you're using this tool. Why? I have no idea. But unless or until you turn off the wireless function on the cell phone, the module will not connect with the U-Scan App on the phone.

via Amazon, this tool is $28.95
Amazon Amazon

FWIW: The ALDL connector on our 992's is an open purple 16 pin connector under the dash to the left of the steering column.

You do not need to start the engine. "Key On" is all that is required for a car to broadcast to its ALDL Connector.

That's for prior gen models, won't work on 992's and 2019+ Cayenne's. Unfortunately, you will need something like this one that I paid $ 1,150 for (I have 3 Porsches all 2020 / 2021). There are no inexpensive units that work on the new models

This is an Autel MaxiCOM MK906BT (The iCarSoft in the photo is not part of this, was being sold)

While you can read codes relatively cheap, there is no cheap option for clearing codes on new cars. Best option is to just buy a m-eginneering tune for $2500 that comes with their M-Tuner Calibration Suite software that while adding 100+ HP to the car. Win win.
