My wife's 2020 Macan S has been running on Mobil1 0w-40 A40. Yes, definitely clear directions from the mother ship and no one who should know does. Not to mention oil is impossible to find unless you're a dealer. Or was that way at the time, and the dealer here was out. Great planning and information...

PS Also to add of course is that since 2020, Macans have Audi engines.

Just changed my oil at 1,500 miles. Super easy to do. You will need a couple of "special" tools for the oil drain plug and the filter canister top. The canister top is a 36mm socket and the drain plug tool can be made out of a narrow screwdriver or purchased online. My car took 8.5 liters of Motul to fill it to the top of the range. I cut open the filter to inspect it and found the typical metal glitter, Nothing large or bronze which I was looking for.

From your handle I guess you have a 991, can you post the steps to see if there are any salient differences with the 992s?

You can buy the little tool on Amazon as well as five oil plugs fairly cheaply:

Amazon Amazon

The oil filter housing 36mm is the same as the V8 Touareg and IIRC the 2015 RS5.

The steps are the same with the exception of the drain plug tool.

Today I was at a Porsche dealer and they had a glossy brochure - "Everything you need to know about oil". It addresses Mobil oils for all Porsches. It specifies C40 for 992 models. Oddly, it says either 0w-40 or 5w-40 for 2019 and 2020 models, but only 0w-40 for 2021 and 2022.

I asked at the parts counter, and they said they had C40 to sell. However, when I had my first oil change at another dealer in January, they did not have Mobil, and put in Motul 5w-30 (my car is 2021 model, so that concerns me a little in view of the specification of only 0w-40 for 2021 model).

OK so this has been discussed a gadzillion times. PLEASE do a search as some of us have spent a lot of time and effort to try and understand this issue.

To summarize. If you can't find Mobil1 0w-40 x3 ESP C40 for your 992 using Motul or Liqui Moly 5w-40 (or 30) C40 is fine as long as you don't drive the vehicle in temps below -20F. The issue of the C40 has to do with GPFs (which we don't have) and some other components that were included in the 992 which aren't part of the 991.

Lastly it is more important to be C40 compliant than 0w-40 compliant as the 0w viscosity only applies to folks like myself who live in "unseasonable" temperatures. For most people 5w is fine.

I use Liqui Moly and a good place to get it is from FCP Euro, no I don't work for them. HTH

Oil filter recommendation for my car | Mobil Motor Oils.

Maybe this will help. I just found this... read the thread.... have a new 992 '22.

Sounds like 0W-40 EXP x3 is the way to go.

The oil isn’t hard to find, Autozone carries it. $9.99/qt.

Go on their website, and you can search for the oil, and it’ll tell you which local stores stock it.

Nice, $10.99 here but not available in store only home delivery. I'll call them later today to see if you can order it.

We’ll, it shows ESP not good enough. Gotta have ESP x3 for 2022. I guess x3 also means c40 which is “required” on new engines.

If you look closely or go to the website, it is x3 in small letters. All x3 AFAIK are C40 compliant. Alternative is to go with Liqui Moly or Motul that are C40 but only 5w-40.

Unless you live where I do and drive your car year round, 5w-40 is fine as long as you're C40 compliant. Ample research done by yours truly if you search the forum.

Look at the bottles, it’s X3.

i just looked at the Autozone website. I don't find the Mobil ESP 0w-40. When I plug in my "21 C2S, it erroneously shows the European Car Formula type.

It IS a European car formula.

Once again, if you can't find it at Autozone you can use Liqui Moly or Motul which is C40 compliant but only 5w-40 not 0w-40 which is irrelevant unless you live in latitudes like mine and drive your car year round.

PSA: amazon has the Motul C40 5w40 in stock and on sale for $48 for 5L
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NWJXMNY/

i've had it in my cart save for later and it'd been out of stock for a while, but noticed today it's back. Even though I wont be needing it for a while, stocked up on 2 jugs to have it handy.
