Not finding the 992s exciting. Am I the only one?

Personally, the visceral feeling, the sound, the sensation I get when I start up my 992S, can not be matched by any EV car. Yes, EV’s can match the acceleration, but (most) still lack the handling capabilities of the 992.
I am waiting for the hybrid version of the next gen 911. A car that will have instant torque on hand, while still sounding and handling like a proper sports car. The best of both worlds.

Punchline from the article:
Punchline from the article:
In fact, I'd rather have a Taycan 4S than any 911; certainly any 911 with a turbocharged engine. It's a more versatile car that's still fun to drive, with a more immediate throttle response. Plus, this car manages to have half the lifetime emissions, according to MIT.

For a fun car, it is hard to imagine an EV ever being the equal of ICE. All EV engines pretty much feel the same, with only the size and power being different from one model to the next-- so I agree that they are appliances without much personality. However, most Porsche owners (I assume) own two or three vehicles-- and there is definitely a place for a "grocery getter" EV in the garage. For shopping, school runs, errands, and the like, one can make the case for having one EV in the household. My guess is that five years from now, most Porsche drivers will have an EV in the stable alongside their prized ICE machine.
Glimpse of the future?

The original poster is comparing a more driver focused F80 Comp to a more grand touring oriented 992, of course the 992 won’t feel as exciting. Modify the 992 or get a GT3 and you’ll find the F80 to be boring. It’s amazing what a turn, exhaust, and lowering springs can do to a 911.

My ‘21 992TTS excels, in my personal view, in every characteristic and criterion. I have not seen any review of any car which comes anywhere close overall, in my opinion.

If you could only have one car, sure, but really, if you can afford a TTS, you can afford two.

there isn't one, but the TTS's curse is what happens if you compare it to two. It's not as large or comfortable as a luxo barge, especially if you need to seat more than 2. It isn't as track focused as a gt3rs or its competitors. Or even a gt4 (much smaller and lighter). It can end up stuck in the middle, and depending on one's garage, without a clear focus.

I now find the pairing of my 992TTS with a ‘58 BMW Isetta 300 provides a (personally enjoyable) range of experience. I plan to post some DRAGY data to prove it.

My very personal opinion is that a one-versus-two car comparison is not very relevant or useful for most people. Before my 992TTS, I had a pair of 991s - a Targa4s and a TTS and loved them both - each for its unique characteristics.

I can't think of a better all round car. It's amazing ... but inherently compromised by that balance. I've loved mine, but it's destined to be replaced by two less well rounded cars.

I use my C2S for family GT trips (2yo & 14yo) with an occasional track day sprinkled in. It definitely fits the bill for an all-round sports car. Wouldn’t see any difference in a TTS for anyone’s similar use case.
Imo the only disadvantages of a TT/S is that it’s just too similar to a CS now that everything is turbo charged. Except a CS will get you RWD, weighs nearly 300lbs less & you can spec a MT. I once allured of having the only turbo charged car on offer. That has since been lost.

You may be right at max. I’m 78 inches with 34 inch inseam and drove the spyder and gt4, wanted to fit so badly but no such luck. 992 was plenty of room so went in that direction.

Part of my definition of a sports car is that it has to weigh less than 3600 pounds.

The whole premise of this thread is ridiculous and I dont like having to glance at the title of the thread in the list. They are very, very exciting.
I have had my 992 for 20,000 mile now and the whole experience is still a thrill a second.
I admit I purchased the cheapest new 911 on the planet (as Hoovie would say) but without doubt, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences ever.
In daily driving, changes up and down are as smooth as my old Model S , which had no gearbox ratios. I get 34 mpg when I want, following traffic when I have to, which is fine by me. Sometimes 450 miles on a tank.
However, when you plant it, the whole car roars as it takes off down the road like Apollo 7.
When the going gets quick it will pull 1.6G in the corners and reliably pull 0-60 in around 3.5 seconds without "Sport Chrono". I have enjoyed 20,00 miles of this with zero drama. Once when I saw 148 mph on the clock, the car was still accelerating hard on the track.
The body shape is beautiful, low slung and wide but with practicality and comfort. It is also subtle in a way the Lamborghini and Ferrari offerings are not.
The wheel arches a sculptural pieces of art, the roof line is gorgeous, the car looks so right from any angle. The dashboard and interior and masterful in their respect for the past and there modern execution.
The only reason you would post a thread like this in the first place is to troll the brand or have some other agenda such as working for the competition.
As far as I am concerned, the 992 offers by far the best experience for those who love driving, and this is an instant classic.
The cherry on the cake has to be the cost. My car has hardly depreciated at all over 18 months and cost nothing but 4 tyres.
My friends with silly Bentleys and Range Rovers have lost a bundle on them.
I cannot imagine a better investment, I would be quite happy with this car for the next 200,000 miles.
Their is absolutely no reason why the 992 should be right at the top of everyone's shopping list, it is a modern miracle of technology, so lets get real.
