I’m looking at NOCO battery tenders (since Porches’ are priced crazy), and was considering the ODB2 port charging connection option. Would this work on the 992?
Also, I understand all Canadian 992s come with a lithium battery. Any gotchas there for battery tenders?
Look at the battery itself, it should say LiFePo4 - don't be fooled if you have a bracket above the battery with a sticker that says Li-Ion since that bracket is present in some cars that actually have AGM batteries.
I'd skip the Porsche tax by getting a CTEK charger since that's who makes the ones Porsche sells. If you need something electrical fixed under warranty, you can worry less about Porsche deciding they want to give you a hard time about your use of a charger from a brand they might arbitrarily decide is sketchy. (I'll omit the stories, but I am aware of this happening at two different dealerships.)
This one works extremely well for Lithium or Flooded batteries. Also much less expensive and easier to use IMHO than the one Porsche sells.

I got the Porsche battery tender, it came with a nice Porsche branded pouch. All kidding aside though I have never got it to actually work. I turn it on, either battery setting, it flashes for 30seconds and turns off. It didn’t work when the battery was dead, full, or in between. Maybe I need to directly connect to the battery instead of through the passenger socket. 🤷

This is the same one I use. Been using Battery Tender brand trickle chargers for many years on all my cars - Porsche, BMW, MGB, etc. and have never had a problem. The product just simply works. I use the direct connect to battery cable so it’s just simple plug and play. Good luck.
Omni, in order to use the passenger socket charger, you need to follow the below procedure. The car has a lockout timer that shuts off the charger socket after 20 minutes or so. I know the CTEK charger gives a flashing green light whenever the battery is no longer detected.
1) Ignition key to off position, charger unplugged from wall.
2) Plug charger into charger socket located in passenger side.
3) Turn ignition ket to 'on' position.
4) Plug charger into A/C outlet.
5) Turn off ignition AFTER 1 to 2 minutes. Charge shutoff circuit will be disabled and charger will work fine.
The above procedure allows the 992 to recognize the charger and will disable the power socket timeout.

Maybe this is obvious to everyone except me but I learned the hard way that the key must be in the car when turning the ignition to the on position. You can't stand outside the car with the key in your pocket. Otherwise turning the key attached to the car has no effect. Yeah...duh...had to scratch my head for a minute before realizing.
