Default Pasm vs Spasm

I'm still not sure what the difference is, I ordered a C2S with PASM (lowered 10mm).
Will I have PASM or SPASM ?
Thanks

SPASM=Sport PASM which is 10mm lower than PASM. Although SPASM is a firmer ride, the 992 ride is not as firm as the 991.2 ... after test driving a SPASM car the other day, I found it to be as smooth as my 991.2 PASM car and have decided to go with SPASM for my incoming 992.

Sport PASM aka SPASM aka PASM (lowered 10mm) is an almost no compromise setup. It's very compliant and also very sporting when you want it to be. There are a lot of threads on it.

I originally was going to skip PASM Sport Susp. (SPASM) for fear of too stiff and more importantly too low for rougher roads in my area. Nick Murray in his option vids also says all you get with SPASM is the 10mm. Not true. AFAIK the following are added via SPASM:

1. Rear spoiler can adjust to a higher angle.
2. Stiffer anti-roll bars (front and rear).
3. Extended Front spoiler lip.
4. The 10mm lowering.
5. Normal and Sport suspension modes.

to my knowledge, while all 992s include PASM, only SPASM equipped cars included #5 - Normal and Sport suspension modes.

I drove a 992 C4S with SPASM and found it to be great. And for this reason I added it to my build.

Also SPASM is $1,020. But if you get the Sport Package on the Manual Transmission which is $3,390, you get SPASM and PSE (which runs $2,950). Since many of us option PSE, you are essentially adding SPASM for $440, saving almost $600 on the two options combined.

PASM equipped cars also have Normal and Sport suspension mode settings.

Yes, but the modes are quite different between the two setups. The SPASM cars get their own unique normal and sport modes.

I had not been able to figure that out. Without the Sport Suspension it didn't make sense that the standard would include a Sport setting for the suspension and nothing I had previously read on here indicated that, but also makes sense that with PASM alone, Porsche could (and I guess did) include a mode.

That would make sense.

Given that they both have the two modes, though different certainly makes the differentiation between PASM and SPASM lesser, but I do believe at the end of the day, all things considered, it is more than just a 10mm drop.

When you write sport PASM, do you mean if someone is specs PASM on a C2S the automatically get SPASM ?
Is SPASM a combination of an S model and the PASM option ?
I don't know why this is not clear to me.

Just curious, when you switch from "Normal" to "Sport" chassis/suspension, what actually changes? Is it simply that the damper stiffens?

"SPASM" doesn't really exist in Porsche literature. It's just our way of differentiating btw the regular PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) which is standard on all Carreras and "PASM Sport Suspension" which is the version of PASM that has firmer dampers and is 10mm lower. So the "S" in SPASM stands for sport suspension. With that said, a base carrera can't be equipped w/ SPASM, it is an upgrade that is only available on S models. But not all S models have SPASM since many people opt for regular PASM on the S models.

Since you ordered your C2S with SPASM, you will have the 10mm lower than regular PASM suspension that's on the base Carrera.

I don't know exactly what happens, but switching from Normal to Sport on a PASM equipped car definitely stiffens things up and makes riding on more poorly paved roads pretty harsh. I would think even more so with SPASM.

In addition to the stiffer anti-roll bars, sport PASM also has shorter stiffer springs- to get that other 10mm lower. It may also have unique wheels alignment specs.

Does anyone know if I can purchase the SPASM spring to replace my current PASM? and if those will work without any dash lights/triggered sensors?

I have owned pretty much every suspension option that porsche Has offered including torsion bar on my first 911 a 87 Carrara ,Gt2,Gt3,Gt4,PASM, x73 ..The SPASM is the best combination ride and handling that they have ever made. Actually my all-time favorite was the X73 on my 981S not active but they really had it dialed.I’m coming out of a GT4 which certainly was much tighter but also harsh and on some roads almost unbearable. SPASM Is probably a little soft for pure track but a great compromise. The sports setting is surprisingly usable unlike the Gt4.carl
