Wondering what everyone’s thought is on this.
Car purchased 8-9 months ago. It just came to my attention that a mistake was made on the invoice by the dealership that actually went to my benefit. I think in the excitement of picking up a new vehicle, somehow both SA and myself have overlooked this. How often does that happen right ? Lol
So obviously the right thing to do is to make it right.
Although, there’s mischievous side of me that wouldn’t mind the “additional discount”![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Out of my curiosity, what’s my position here ? What can the dealer do when all is signed?
thanks all

who's staring at their invoices 9 months later? can't even imagine how this was caught. it's been recognized as a loss for that quarter by now anyway.

I got a refund from a dealer when I purchased my 991 C4S because the original out-the-door price was based on one zip code, and when I took delivery I had moved and the zip code changed, resulting in a decrease in the overall price.
Neither myself nor the dealer caught the difference at the time of delivery.
A month later I got a nice check in the mail explaining what happened, as well as a letter from the GSM apologizing for the mistake.
It wasn't alot of money (think 2 digits) but it was still appreciated.

Exactly. Can't believe there is any question here. If it were the other way around we all know what would be happening. The golden rule applies here IMO.

Last "discrepancy" I had with my local, very large dealer was they billed me for an additional $1,100 two months after the transaction. Turned out they didn't pay off my trade for 60 days and expected me to pay the interest. Screw em.

Thanks for your input. Been a busy day...just got off work.....
The mistake in question was dealership made an error on my deposit amount. The deposit was for $5000, put down the day before covid **** hit the fan. For whatever the reason I can't remember, only $1000 was taken out of my credit card and my recollection was the the full amount for the deposit charged. Covid hit next day, stress, my business was shut down, dealership was shut down, Porsche factory shutdown and you know the rest of the story. Anyhow, car showed up few months late, covid situation was better, got excited. Got a call and told what the balance was. Wife made a certified chq based on that amount and off we go to pick up my first ever Porsche. The excitement was beyond expectations. Took lots of pictures, thank the SA and even forgot the sales agreement on the way home. Email the dealership, got a copy....printed and filed.
8 months later, got a text from SA wondering if I knew what month the additional $4000 deposit was charged because they lost the receipt. I was confused and thought he sent to the wrong person. In my mind, I paid $5000, so I figured he got it mixed up. Spoke to the wife, dugged up the file, checked the bank statement and this is when I realized only $1000 deposit was made.
There is the story. Already phoned SA and will square up in the morning. Would like a letter in writing though to avoid further surprises. I think I will feel better about it whenever I take the car out for a spin. The intention was always there as mentioned in the initial post. Can't lie, I thought I could drive it like I stole it.... lol

$4000??
I'd have called the dealer, too. That's a lot of money.

I had a similar situation once. When I got a call for an allocation for a car I had chased all over the country to find, they asked for a credit card to take a $5k deposit. I got the call at an airport just as I was departing on a 12-day overseas trip with my family.
Six months later the car arrived and I went to pick it up and pay for it. I honestly didn't know or remember if they had actually charged the credit card (I use several, just leaving on a big trip, etc.) but I couldn't remember seeing the charge but also recognized I may have missed it with everything going on.
They presented the purchase agreement with the $5k credit as deposit, I paid the balance, and off I went with the car. In the back of my head I really wasn't sure if they ever actually charged me for the deposit. I decided I would go home and check all of the possible CC statements. The next morning I got a call from my SA asking about whether I had actually paid the deposit and I told him I would check various cards and let him know. The next day they charged my card when I couldn't find a statement with the charge.
It's usually best to do the right thing. Even if that dealer doesn't recognize it, karma will.
