Diamond/HomeLink/Voice Command
So I've just been rudely awakened by the information that the universal HomeLink, easily reachable on $18k to $200k+ cars has now been, thanx to some ergonomic genius designer (probably the same one who designed the shaver), placed under some menu in the PCM. I will leave it at that and just hope that the creator is actually forced to use his design in real life daily.
Having said that, I just had a thought. Would VoiceCommand allow for the command "HomeLink" and pop it up in the PCM; or taking it just a hair further, VoiceCommand "HomeLink 1" to select garage door 1?

Anyone know who/where we can at least thank the creator/developer/genius for this "wonderful" new improved design? This rivals Audi's Eigenfrequency stupidity for a solution to no problem.

My garage opener is linked to MyQ which is part of HomeKit. Using CarPlay, I press the voice command and say "Siri open garage door" or close for that matter.
That's probably the closest you could have now without some deep recoding of the PCM.

Let's just hope they never port the Eigenfrequency idiocy. Alas, I don't use Siri or any other trackable assistant. Will just keep the OEM device on the visor

That's the thing. I have an Audi RSQ8, and the garage door opener is one-touch accessible via a button on the climate control screen. It is available immediately when I start the vehicle, no waiting needed. Porsche made the Audi system worse in this regard.

I have a 2015 RS5 and the Homelink is above by the mirror where God intended it to be not buried in a menu, same for my 2008 Touareg and my 2020 Macan - no, Olga, my bobcat doesn't go in the garage so she doesn't need one.... There should be a Darwin Award for the best and worst featured in Panorama ... I'll start by nominating some of the outstanding Porsche contributions:
1) Macan rear window - a magnet for every bit of dirt in the universe
2) Macan reverse light - a faint glow to tell the person behind you might be in reverse
... I'll leave the rest of the list for the Macan Forum
3) 992 HomeLink
4) No permanent *** disable switch
I'll probably think of more when I get my car.

The coding lines on PIWIS are filled with Audi references. A lot of the FCC numbers for Porsche electronics match Audi hardware.
They need more field than bench work.
Good old clicker. I thought about 3D printing a button and replace one of the plastic covers by the rear view light with a motorcycle remote in the background (small programmable unit) but got lazy on the way.

Not sure why buy that when you can just use the original remote that came with the door...? Love the "easy to install just visit your dealer..."

I toggle the hot key & then press the screen to open/close the garage door. It's literally just one extra step.
The biggest issue is the fact Porsche won't allow the garage open/close icon to overlay the backup camera when reversing out of the garage... ultimately forcing you to first close the camera by putting the car in park/neutral to allow the icon to show back up.

Can (at least) these two essential (for me) functions be placed in the Home Screen: *** and HomeLink and then assign the hot key to the Home Screen? Amazing a $160k car and you have to resort to this...
