Default Allocations: Order 2021 or 2022?

Hello everyone, got a couple of questions to run by everyone.

1. Allocations. I have gleaned from other posts that Allocations are tough to come by right now, especially for Manual S models. Is this true? If so what is the wait time.

2. 2021 or 2022? Should i wait for 2022. Here are some thoughts. Order now and get the car later this year, and get to have that sweet Agave Green interior. With current availability it will be recognizing there may not get much of a discount on the current MSRP.

Or Order this summer on a 2022 model, risk having Agave no longer available and deal with the inevitable price hike. (thinking the msrp may jump 3-5%, based on nothing more than anecdotes and value of US dollar with all this money printing going on)

Context: I had ordered a night blue agave green interior manual in Dec. 2019, I made a prudent decision to Cancel on March 16th 2020 when I saw what was going on in the world. I am glad i canceled cause it forced me to restructure my solo-law practice(cut overhead etc), made some real estate moves and now i am in great shape. It took a year though to figure it out.

I am now thinking about ordering again. I have been waiting for this car since I saw Arnie Hammer debut it in Nov. 2018. Waited a year for the manual availability. I sold my manual VW GTI in June 2019 and Ford Raptor in Nov. 2019 to make room for this car. Then u know what happened and canceled. Currently driving a automatic 4x4 regular cab Ford. I miss driving manual and a car, so getting excited about the 911. It's not a question of if, it's when.

Appreciate your feedback.

I would order a MY21 for one reason - the first batch of MY22 cars will end up sitting at port for 3 months while waiting on CARB approval. 😅

It seems like you listed a lot of reasons to get a ‘21 and only drawbacks (more expensive, risk of no Agave Green) to waiting for a ‘22 in your own post, so maybe that says something?

I did a similar covid related pause with my order that moved me from a 20 to a 21. I was able to get the new lightweight glass and the colored ambient lightning but otherwise the car is the same. I’m happy with these options but wouldn’t miss them if I had gotten the earlier MY car. I’m not aware of any other new features coming in the 22 model so unless that changes no reason to wait.

You may not have the choice. The very last 2021 allocations have been coming out. 2022 allocations may already be out.

There’s no such thing as a ‘manual’ allocation, manual is an option like leather, PSE etc.

Until you start contacting sales manager(s) at your dealer(s) of choice with allocation inquiries, you don't have a real decision to make. Make some calls and see what's out there. You may luck out and get a 2021 allocation...you may not. Regardless, don't just go by reports of paucity from members of this forum.

After a morning email a handful of sales managers I secured a C2S allocation at the beginning of this month at 'meh' discount (nothing like pre-Covid) that is set to deliver in first half of May. Allocations were plenty scarce then, but I inquired anyways. Point being: Send some emails, make some calls, and you may find yourself in a right-place, right-time situation. Good luck!

I was told dealers received new allocations at the end of this month. I received an official allocation for a C2S yesterday. Build locks mid-March. Delivery date mid-June.

Yes they did. I was hoping to get a 2021 allocation but doesn't look like it's happening. There may be a few more that come out, but (for the most part) I think whatever the dealers have now is all they're going to get for 2021.

I'm at the top of the list for a C4S allocation, was told they were hoping to get one this month, February, but it's already the 28th and I've not heard anything. Maybe time to start pestering 😅
I'd say contact your dealer to see what they have, you could get lucky and they could have a allocation just waiting to be filled 😉
Also if time's not a factor and you were planning on adding the aero kit, they are saying now that option won't be filled for MY21

The 21 also added the Comfort Access (which some do not like) to the car as standard. In 20 it was an option (and yes some wish it still was); I am glad it became standard. Honestly, the Ambient Lighting should be too. And some would argue that there should only be the LED Matrix and the PDLS should be PDLS+ as standard. Certainly the Ambient should be.

Took delivery two weeks ago. When Covid's under control I'll be driving all over the west. Glad I didn't wait. If it fits your numbers and your life don't wait.
