Default Hiccup at 2200 rpm Carrera S

Hello guys,

I am a proud owner of a 992 S from 2019. I am absolutely in love with the machine and like it even better than my previous 991.2 Carrera T.

Only one thing is bothering me. I have only driven this 992 so I don't know if this behavior of the car which I experience is normal.

Around 2200 rpm the car is a bit lagging or it looks like it hesitates a bit. It is most noticeable in Sport mode after letting loose of the accelerator pedal and then pressing it in slightly till 2400 or so RPM. Is this the normal behavior of the car/engine? There are absolutely no hiccups when going full throttle from, let say 1700 RPM to 5000 RPM. The hiccups are very slight, but my brain notices them every time now
In the Carrera T there were no hiccups. The turbo's are a bit smaller in the base engine (Carrera T), therefore I guess that the characteristics of the S engine are different than the base engine so it is difficult to compare them.

I read some posts about turbo lag but I don't think this is turbo lag. Also read some posts about engine mounts and air flow meters....

Can someone tell me if this is normal and something I don't have to worry about? Driving faster is the other option of course...

Thank you in advance!

I don't experience this. I'm at 16k miles now on my 2020 C4S.

I think something similar has been mentioned in other threads, and I've definitely noticed something like this around 2k and feathering the pedal (e.g. getting out of the neighborhood, or lightly accelerating from a recent rolling stop). My only theory is it's PDK related. This is my first DCT, so I was thinking it's just the nature/behavior of them.

Ok thank you!
I was thinking about the PDK as well.
I did a reset yesterday... turning off the ACC etc... Some sort of magical ritual.... but without luck...

This is the one I was thinking of, not sure if it's the same: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1229...-gear-pdk.html

Is this hesitation happening in every gear if you hold them manually ? It reminds me of the symptoms experienced on some Porsche and Audi cars a few years ago where a hesitation was deliberately built into the ECU mapping so they they would pass the EU driveby noise test. I'd be surprised if the 992 had that mapping though as they are not so noisy and I'm sure they have engineered a better way to pass the test.

Thanks for your answer. I am not sure... I will test it tommorow. I think it is less noticeable or not present at all in manual

I think this is what that low harmonic bog out at 1800-2000rpm that we've all talked about hearing in the exhaust.

I tried it out totday but even in manual mode there is a slight hiccup from 1700 to 2400 RPM under half pressure of the pedal. Full throttle doesn’t give the hesitation.

I noticed that it is less apparent when the engine is warm but it is still there. Releasing the gas pedal shakes the car a bit at that RPM.

sometimes it feels like if the whole car bumbs a bit. It is very difficult to describe.

The car has done 6500 miles so far and is still under warranty. I know it is a real minor problem but do you guys think I need to get it checked at the dealership?

I intend to get mine checked absolutely just not a giant priority, especially since it is rarely happening now. Dealer seemed to imply that it is driver error. Which just pissed me off.

I know exactly what you mean. Mine does it too. Just wait until you start hearing the cricket like clicking noise. lol. Once you hear it.... it never goes away. lol. My dealer said both is normal. I cant stand it.

I've noticed this and have just posted under BATTERY HEALTH. My car is a manual. I don't think it's turbo lag.

I checked the battery condition/values on the dash but everything seems to be ok.

Can this be battery related? There is no problem when I accelerate hard, therefore I don’t think it is battery related.

Today I noticed that it also happened when downshifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear. After the downshift there seems to be some lag when pressing the accelerator slightly and the car shakes a bit.

Can it be the engine mounts? Or the MAF sensor?
