While I think the 992 sounds good for a modern turbo engine (without GPF atleast), it is lacking for me. I don't often rev it out just to hear it like I did with my 991.1 CS with sports exhaust.
Hopefully more aftermarket options come but I also think it's the sad reality of modern cars and it is just going to worse.
Last night I watched this YouTube video on the manual 992; you can clearly the hear 'our' crickets when he drives off at the start of the video. Excellent find Aggie. That's exactly what I hear in mine too. Its nice to see that even though some of of have it and hear it. That a bone stock PCNA car has it too.
Very happy with the sound of my Akrapovic and Soul cats. If you want the sound of an NA motor, best get an NA motor. If you want a really nice sounding turbo motor, get the Akrapovic and Soul setup.
A well design Equal Length header with individual primaries should clean up the muddled OEM manifold's tone quote a bit. It certainly does on the 991.2
so that begs the Q, what are you working on with regards to the 992
We'd love to see data to back up these claims. Regardless of flow you still have the metal matrix inside the catalyst which is absorbing sound energy. On the 991.2 Carrera there is way more than a 5% difference in sound between HJS HD 200 cell catted pipes and straight pipes - it can be the difference between people loving their car and being greatly displeased at the volume.

I've had the Akropovic Exhaust with the 200 Cats for several months now. I paired it with the AMR ECU flash and the high flow filter.
The change is remarkable ! Of note is that in Rain or Standard PDK setting, the car is as quiet as Stock. Rev it to Sport Plus
and it is screamer ! Before and After
Obviously, I am a huge Porsche fan. IMO they are the best all around sports car you can buy. On most occasions, I prefer to drive them over exotics I own. My only issue is the awful exhaust note of all non GT cars post 991.2. When I bought the 992 TTS, the dealer told me it was a must to spec PSE since it was the first time ever offered on TTS and it sounds "awesome." The reality is its terrible and no different than PSE on my 992 Targa 4S.
Does anyone truly have a great sounding 992? What have you done to achieve it?
