Personally, I've never found any 911 -- GT or otherwise, and any generation (997 and onwards) -- to sound all that great.
I think it's just a matter of physics and mechanical layout. A flat-six will never sound as good as a V8, and given the rear engine layout the 911 is handicapped from the get-go.
As to GT cars, I for one love the sound of my 991 GT3 at 9k, but anything below 7k sounds pretty pedestrian, and anything below 4k just sounds like a garbage truck with a broken muffler.

Last night I watched this YouTube video on the manual 992; you can clearly the hear 'our' crickets when he drives off at the start of the video. In a PCNA press car, same one we see on other YouTubers videos. Still haven't taken mine in, COVID and all that, but man you hear it loud every time you drive the car.

We're very much looking forward to starting development on a rear exhaust(s) for the 992 platform next week! We're weighing our options. We're considering a large diameter system designed from turbo back to produce maximum power without being too obnoxious. We're also focused on a valved system to give you the mild and wild experience that our 991.1 Carrera system is known for. We'll launch a development thread when the time comes.

a V 10 would have been better

Advanced
The only systems that do it for me volume or tone wise are the catless ones.
I am running a Fabspeed Catless Bypass setup and it gives the car the required bite.
But there is the issue of having to tune to remove the CEL. I decided to not tune but live with the light in my face - small price to pay for the enjoyment I get out of the car.

^ One thing I have never seen discussed around here is the difference in sound between catless and sports cats.
The sports cats makers say that sports cats allow about 95% of the flow of catless. That would suggest that the sound difference would be minimal, if any

Great video. We need to wait for aftermarket headers, in addition to exhaust and cats.

Kline makes them too. I ordered my headers, 200 cell cats and rear x pipe exhaust back in Dec. Should be ready in about a month or so. Will post my impressions on here once I get it all installed!

I dislike the sound of my 992 S as well. My 991.2 with PSE and sport cats was perfect. The 992 with PSE and sport cats is no where near as nice sounding. I am looking forward to whatever soul is working on exhaust wise. I am also half tempted to buy the akrapovic slip on (which to me is NOT worth 4K) just to get more sound. I love how this one drives. I love the speed. But man the exhaust blows! And mine clicks like a MF'er which drives me nuts too.

Step 1. Loosen the bolts on the turbos...
Step 2. Drop turbos on garage floor...
Step 3. Put any exhaust system back on the car.
Problem solved. The turbos eat all the noises you like leaving nothing but flattened dull whoosh noises exiting what ever exhaust pipe is bolted to them.
