History:
I traded my Q8 in on the 992 and it serves as my daily driver. My commute is really short ~15 min but average approx 1200 miles a month. I've always wanted a Porsche since about 11 and my cousin had a guards red 924. I have absolutely no regrets. I've been looking pretty hard for the better part of 14 months. Considered a S with 3.8 but in the end this one "spoke" to me when I saw it and I was sold. Fortunately, a friend was borrowing my Q that weekend and I had her Jag so I was forced to sit and think about it for 48 hours. Previous vehicles include M550i, Audi TTS, RS3 and the Q8. Various trucks and SUVs and one 1985 Mustang GT. Car was bought of the lot. I have 1300 miles on the 992 right now and smile everytime I drive it.
PROS: - Love the PDK, again love the PDK. Coming from a DSG500 on the RS3, this is way better. Smoother and more precise. *not a manual fan for a daily
- PSE and Sport Chrono. Exhaust note is great. Not NA great but again coming from Audi much nicer. (For reference I had a catless DP on the RS3)
- Guards Red...love it
- Parking assist with surround view. So much easier parking as good as the Q8 system.
- Coupe comfort. Being 6'2" and 300# it is a very roomy cabin.
- Handling. It is a blast to drive in the curves. Admittedly still getting comfortable with a rear wheel drive car so haven't pushed it too much.
- Visibility. Have no problems with seeing around the car. No big blindspot
- Ride. Drive in sport mode daily.
CONS:
- PCM. While all the displays look great it is a bit temperamental. Carplay is great when it works but the 1st week it reset every 3 minutes. Had the dealer do a factory reset and seems to be better.
- PCM you have to dig through so many menus to find things.
- Homelink. Can I just not push one button and the door opens vice showing profiles (maybe I don't get it)
- 14 way seats. While comfortable for daily driving a bit more support in the bolster for spirited driving would be nice. Or maybe I could just be smaller :-) - Frunk comfort access non existent...thought everyone had it
- Outward gauges blocked by steering wheel.
- QI charger would have been nice in the center console
Other items:
- While I like the Carrera Classic Wheels, black HRE FF11s would be perfect...might be in my future.
- Had I spec'd I would have left off the sunroof.
Overall can't be happier with the car. It is so much fun to drive and just beautiful to look at. A little sorry I took so long to get one.
Most of the cons (including my own) are related to tech features, as well as comfort access (which I basically don’t have), insofar as the reviews I’ve heard.
Most of the pros are related to driving, power, and handling.
Its almost all PRO for me except no physical Home button for garage door, WTF... another small complaint.. why does this need to stay on so bright ALL the time, at night its irritating but I have gotten used to it.
Congratulations and you are in for the time of your life. I had an Ara Blue RS3 which I really liked as well but I had to return to Porsche (first a Cayman, and back to the 911). I love Guards Red as well.
Such detailed notes !! Thank you. I m nearing the 12 month search period and I think I know what's important for me. The other thing is 992s CPO prices are a tad high.

Unfortunately with supply and demand that is not going to change soon. It is crazy, I have seen CPO's that are almost the same price as a new. Now yes you are getting another year or so of warranty but still CPO's were meant to be a good deal as the depreciation had been baked in and you were getting a warranty without the big depreciation hit. Not so much right now
I’m using the diamond button for Homelink but have not set up GPS locator for it, does it work well?
I am doing the same, what I guess I am missing is when I push it, it pulls up profiles and then I have to touch the main screen. I'd like just to hit the diamond and the door open as that is my only item. I think I'm missing something.

It’s not great, the GPS part that is. On my car works around 50% of the time. Someone said sit outside the garage for a few minutes before storing the location, so the car locks on to as many satellites as possible first, but I’ve tried that and it made no difference.
