For prospective 992 buyers, negatives
It is important that prospective 992 buyers are aware of the car's negative attributes. All too often we tout the positives and this clouds
the real understanding of what is about to be purchased.

One thing that I find disappointing is the memory function on the seats. I specc'd the 18ways just assuming that the memory function would apply to both seats but for some ridiculous reason it doesn't.
Memory only applies to the driver which is pointless (what sane person let's someome else drive thier 911) where as I have several regular front seat passengers who will now have to fiddle with the seat every time they get in.

For me, all of the cons are related to the tech. Apple CarPlay comes in and out, the My Porsche feature seems useless, etc.
But I’m mostly fine with that, as tech is something I view as work, not joy. So I can live with it. You have to decide what matters to you.

Seriously, who cares. It's totally unobtrusive. It's an RND gear selector -- not a shifter. You use it to drive off and to park -- otherwise never touch it.
Second bullet --
Piano black is the style right now. Everyone is doing it. Much more preferable to the alternatives that can get gummy, etc. About 15k miles in and mine still looks new.
Third bullet --
Well, duh, it's Porsche and it's a 911. It's the double-whammy of that circumstance. The 911 has never been the car of the proletariat.

"Now hold on just a second...you are about to buy a car with a video-game shifter, and it is surrounded by shiny black plastic. Also...I hope you are sitting down for this sobering revelation: This car is pricey, and these options are expensive."
It's enough to bring any 992 fan boy/girl back down to Earth.

- The steering wheel blocks the outboard gauges. Make the instrument cluster just a bit wider and the outboard gauges would be visible outside the rim of the steering wheel.
- Tire noise is just noise it's not an attribute.
- Needs a wireless phone charger
- Cameras should record, loop and record impacts. Should not need to purchase aftermarket devices. Take a clue from BMW's system.
- No AM radio.
- Upper seat belt mount is fixed. Without being adjustable this can result in an uncomfortable position on your neck.
- Why can't the piano black console be covered in leather or carbon fiber?
- Whoever is managing the integration of the various suppliers for the many aspects of the PCM's electronics/software needs to do a better job at this. Perhaps establishing a department (with authority) that handles just this aspect as opposed to a multitude of dispartet departments each coming up with their own systems and only then trying to integrate them.
- There is no passenger seat memory function.
- The NVH folks need to get on the ball. Far to many squeaks and rattles in far to many cars for a vehicle in this price range.
- Need a rear quarter window pop out function. Either that or better exit venting of the passenger compartment. Doing either would put a stop the window open at speed wind buffeting. There is a reason the early 911's had the pop out rear quarter windows. Duh! Aftermarket air foils at the front corner of the windows is a bandaid, it's not a fix and the aftermarket should need to be the source for this sort of a bandaid.

Here are my gripes with the 992, which I hope they resolve going forward.
1. SHIFTER CONSOLE LAYOUT. The blank (not black) but blank space around the shifter (which I have no real problem with). There needs to be better use of that empty space. Maybe something along the lines of the Panamera (as pictured below), even though I am not a fan of touch screens, it beats the total blank space now.
2. TRACTION CONTROL. A way to completely disable all traction control management systems. Like totally off.
3. INDIVIDUAL SETUP. A way to individually setup the dynamics of the car -- e.g., Sport+ for suspension, Sport for drivetrain, Sport for steering, Sport+ for exhaust.
That's about it.

It is very difficult to clean the inside of the back window. You must contort yourself into a pretzel to get at the glass. It would have been better if the window would open like a hatch back,
not only for cleaning but to make the back area more usable for storage.
