For prospective 992 buyers, negatives

Cons:
1. Ride is too harsh even with PASM - I can feel the bumps in the road, need to soften it up so it just glides over them
2. Way too much power, and that's just the Carerra, the Turbo will get you killed or in jail
3. Too heavy, everyone knows it's a boat now. Weighs more than an E30 M3.
4. Too big, it's way too wide and long, need to build it like they did in 1965.
5. Can't see all the gauges........
6. Too expensive, need to build a cheaper version, maybe something mid-engine with four cylinders.
7. Same design as the last 60 years, looks like a 911
8. Engine is in the back, everyone knows mid engine is better
9. Tires cost too much, can't even get decent cheap all seasons.
10. Flat six, seriously? Everyone knows V8s are better

Honestly only negative is weather related since I'm not putting snows on...it will be more 24/7/365 fun in FL or SoCal when our place here sells!
As for other cons I came from a long line of BMW sport suspensions so SPASM is fine to me...and it weighs just about the same and is smaller...my first Porsche so I can't compare to earlier go karts! Also I much prefer a classic design than what BMW is doing on new M3/M4 weighty boats...
My standard wheel helps with gauge vision but I hardly look other than at RPM right in the middle.
It does suck the gas tho!

I can’t think of too many tech products without issues. I’ve had a number of I-Phones but I’ve never had one that wasn’t loaded with deficiencies, many involving prime functions. My hifi processor needs software updates continuously, as does my laptop which will most likely never be free of tons of annoyances. My uber expensive OLED tv is oh so deficient. With cars we have a merging of hi-tech and an old school machine. Most companies have issues combining expert involvement from multi[ple disciplines.
I was in a traditional business that integrated tech. No offense but I knew as soon computer people entered the picture, we’d be mired in bugs and unintended consequences. Let’s just hope Porsche over time reasonably deals with these things.

Love the city but want a real garage attached directly to my house again...also hate hate the taxation and politics (would only rent if we go back to SoCal as their politics taxes blow too)...ugh.

I got to drive the 992 Carrera S at the PTX over several days during two visits. The car is a rocket and many reviewers have questioned if there's a need for more power. Wonder what the GTS will show, at least 470HP+. And Porsche is conservative with output figures.
The shift nub should go and maybe Porsche will add a proper shift ****.That wouldn't keep me from buying one.
The digital controls aren't optimal as you have to dig through menus to access some functions, not something you would do on the move. I like my 991.2 dashboard over the 992, personal choice.
On the 991.2, the steering wheel blocks some of the instrument dials, the 992 does the same, something to live with. I set the values I want to see on the right hand dial, good to go. Can do the same with the 992.
Didn't notice any rattles on any of the 992s I drove, however, that can happen. No rattles on my 991.2 after nearly 14k miles.
The shiny piano black is terrible in all cars, it show dust, dirt and scratches in no time. Porsche should offer an option to get rid of this, they do for everything else.
Price are up, they're selling all they make so they can and will charge more. A comparable 992 to my 991.2 is at least $10k more. The old snarky comment still is true, if you gotta ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.
Somebody else stated, wait for the 992.1 or .2 and maybe they will be sorted, but likely will cost even more.

Not sure how the 991 is in the mix here, but since we’re comparing. Setting aside the buttonfest; the biggest issue I had with the 991 was the interior. Getting a 2019 991 was like purchasing a Porsche from 2004. They practically carried over the interior from the 997.
Porsche finally decided to join the 21st century with the 992. Making the car actually look & feel like a six-figure sports car in 20/21. I couldn’t imagine Porsche carrying over a turn-of-the-century interior again.
Regardless, any pure ICE 911 is going to be sought after when everything is electrified in 10-15 years. 🤣
Getting back on topic, I would say my biggest gripe with the 992 is not allowing the HomeLink icon to overlap the reverse camera. When I’m pulling out of the garage, I shouldn’t have to shift into park to remove the camera & then press the hot key.
Hopefully they can fix this with an OTA update. In the meantime - I back into the garage - or I just open/close using the MyQ app on my phone.

I wonder what is the average price of a 992 that is ordered vs ones the dealer spec’d
I would guess it’s around 140k-165k
If this is the case , look at it this way Porsche is selling 150k 992s that if a buyer chooses they may delete options to arrive at a price they feel is appropriate
I believe the numerous options that Porsche offers actually allows more people to get the car they desire

Evora GT - and all other existing Lotus models - cease production at the end of 2021. With a new owner and all new model lineup going forward, an Evora GT may prove to be a bit of an "orphan" in terms of parts and service.
