It's too bad they did away with the smokers' package from the 991s. ALP controller fits perfectly there and is invisible with the cover closed.

Laser jammers are illegal here and though the ALP takes the prize for performance, the sensors are painfully obvious ☹️ - I wish they’d make some fibre optic ones likes Stinger! https://us.stinger.com/invisible-on-your-car/

Not legal in Illinois as well, but at least the cops don't use it often (I've see staties using it).
TX was worse as it's illegal there and they used it a lot.

Radar these days in Oz is mostly confined to mobile LEO vehicles - almost all static devices are laser, camera (avg speed) or low powered angled radar on trailers - I can see similar trends developing in the US

That install is very visible and if you get pulled over in a state where laser jammers aren't legal, you'll have some explaining to do. Fortunately, in Georgia, they're legal and a non-issue.

With the GlasWerks install, I love that the rear heads are hidden underneath the spoiler -- functional, when you're going fast enough to need them and hidden, when you may find yourself pulled over. It's brilliant. Of course, you'd expect this level of stealthy detail with an installer in Virginia. 😉

Georgia is probably the biggest user of laser in the states. So, the OP's license plate certainly explains the necessity. 👍
I've encountered very little laser elsewhere in the country. Radar still reigns supreme in the US.

Uniden R3 or R7 hands down. I drive from California to Lake Havasu (4hr drive on lone highway) monthly or more and the range on the Uniden cant be beat. Ive tried almost all the 500 dollar detectors. The Uniden gives me up too 2 mile warning. 2 MILES is a long time before you see the LEO. No other one has even come close to 2 miles. Now, I only care about KA band. All the laser stuff is a gimmick to me. If they point it at you, you are caught. So what you want is RANGE. So that if someone else does get lasered up the road. I want to know. I'm not trying to beat the laser. I'm trying to know its being used. Just my 2 cents.

I've always been curious about the usage of laser jammers on flashy sports cars (the 911 qualifying as flashy in this instance). As in, if a cop hits your 911 or Ferrari or whatever with laser and gets back a garbage reading, surely they're likely to be quite suspicious given the car, no? I could see it working well on a Camry or any average vehicle that blends in, but it seems sort of pointless on a sports car?

They don’t work that way. You’re supposed to quickly slow down and turn the jammer off so that they can get a proper reading. The officer using the laser device should see it as just a slight delay in acquiring the vehicle speed. That’s why easy access to the jammer controls is so important with a laser jammer install.

Exactly. When testing, you want to test by checking if the jammer will jam to gun. That essentially means that say from 2k feet, down to 0 feet, at the gun, the unit will jam. When you're out in the real world using them, you want to jam to kill. This means that you jam the officer, slow down, then turn off the jammers so that the officer is less aware that you have a jammer.

When an officer is standing on the side of the road shooting cars, an extra couple of seconds is not going to be very noticeable.

In states where jammers are legal, why is it necessary to coneal the jammer's use by quickly slowing, deactivating the jammer, and allowing the officer to get a reading? I would think that some hard documentation of your speed would be necessary in order to get a speeding ticket to stick. Is the slowing and deactivation method recommended in order to avoid making the officer angry, motivating them to ticket you for other infractions or motivating them to make a special effort to radar you in the future?
