Default A good day

Exactly 5 weeks ago, I took a nasty fall on ice, broke my right hip and had to have a total hip replacement. The day before the injury (and after waiting for the 2021 Carrera S since June) the car was delivered to me. So, for the past 5 weeks I could only stare at this lovely Gentian Blue sculpture in my garage. Today, the ortho gave me the go-ahead to drive and I just came back from a wonderful 40 mile blast in the car. What a joyful day!

Nice. I have a bad back to the point I couldn't walk. Driving my car, go to driving schools and taking it to the track keeps helps me to keep on going. Family too.
Enjoy, exercise and drive. Maybe we should be able to write off 911s as a medical expense....

I was just thinking about you the other day. I read your story a while back and was wondering how you were doing. I could not remember your user name, nor did I remember which post. Glad to hear that you are able to drive and your recovery is going well.

Apparently. I got a "lucky break" in that the hip itself was not smashed, but rather the femur ball just snapped off, so the fix was a total hip replacement. My surgeon said, "it's just like replacing a flat tire".

But I am amazed that my 72 year old body recovered quickly enough to get me back in the car in 5 weeks (kudos to a great phys. therapist).

Incidentally, the car fired up instantly after sitting for those 5 weeks (no battery tender).

I learned a long time ago the value of a great PT. As someone who spent 8 days in Trauma last May with multiple broken bones and internals who is now skiing, keep at it, it's worth a lot of hard work to recover pre-accident function.
