Default PPF & Ceramic Coating Recommendation - NY

Hi all: As the title suggests, I'm looking for recommendations of a high quality shop that can perform some paint correction, PPF and Ceramic Coating on my 992. If you know of a place you have used in or around the NYC Metro area (NY, NJ, CT) please PM me. Thanks in advance.

I was searching things out myself in the same area and found 2 that struck me as worth looking deeper in to for ppf & ceramic:

Darien Detail - Darien Ct - https://dariendetail.com/

Touch of Glass Detail Studio - Bedford Hills NY - https://togdetailstudio.com/

Aidesign -Tuckahoe NY - https://www.aidesign.com/

first 2 are ppf and ceramic specialists

- Darien Detail - Ceramic Pro (?) product line
- Touch of Glass - Modesta product line
- Aidesign - seems to offer many services - electronic installs, sound systems (radar detectors integrated in to your mirror looks like a specialty) - also offers ppf, ceramic

These appear to me as top tier shops - price ranges starting in the 2's (darien posts prices - starts at 1,500 (?) for a ppf nose job) but all seem to say "consult with us for deeper details" - basically code for: we need to know what you want before we can say what it will cost - thats fair

I ultimately decided against ppf altogether & did AvalonKing Ceramic (SiO2 84%) myself as a DIY - easy as pie

Carlos at C&J in Danbury did the Xpel install on my 992. I'm very pleased with the results.

RD16RR - thanks for the response/recommendations. Why did you decide agains PPF altogether? I'm a bit on the fence about it, mainly because don't really want any car parts (headlights, emblems, side mirrors, bumpers, etc.) manually removed in order to apply PPF.

Ultimately, while i also wasn't over joyed about the parts removal process (seemingly harmless though it may be) the whole idea of ppf just never really appealed to me - (i guess) i first thought about it as everyone else getting it does - however, i like the car for what it is, i drive it, and do not expect it to look showroom as it ages - some like the Fabregé Egg approach to car ownership - i understand that 100% - and while the ppf idea has its merits, there were a few characteristics i can't get past:

OCD works both ways...this is mine:

- edges from precut kits means you'll see the film eventually (if not immediately)
- edges from kits means it'll get dirty along the edge which means it looks worse than a chip
- if it damages you'll still want to repair it - a new panel is the only way - if in fact it is needed, will it match up to the aged panels already on the car (?)
- paint correction needed on the car body panel you're replacing the ppf on, due to: "all the adhesive did not release" - "have you parked your car outside - was it in the sun" ? (ok i might be exaggerating here)
- custom installs (no edges, parts removed and replaced) - has its own set of issues regarding how the film is folded over/hidden - let alone how it gets razor cut to size
- the potential for: "we did the best we could in this spot" comment from the installer no matter how good they are - obviously some nooks and crannies simply cant be covered
- the potential for: "for some reason they did this different at the factory and we cannot get this part (door handle) back exactly where it belongs" LOL !
- just the overall look of the ppf as it ages wouldn't appeal to me either - granted, if you're keeping the car garaged, driven 2000/3000 miles a year it'll probably look great/new...understood - if i were doing that i wouldn't even think to get ppf to start with
- i like the paint finish as it is - stock from the factory....no paint correction for me - yes it helps, i understand...i just don't need it
- saving the paint finish for the next guy (if any) to own it - the dealers like this because they can strip the ppf off, paint correct it, and have a new looking car to sell at max value, or leave it on because the car had no real road/track life to pepper it - nice for them, but just how much more trade-in value would you be offered ?

The list goes on, but i'll stop there....
- oh, ok...1 more.....(as 1 rennlister put it) "the stuff reminds me of my Aunt Hazel covering her sofa and lamps shades with the stuff" !! LOL !!

sorry i can't resist this one: when the installer wants to add another layer in high impact zones, so the top layer can be removed to reveal a fresh layer....as Diane Keaton said in the GodFather "When will this all end" !!

While my comments might be a bit exaggerated, i started having a little fun typing this, the end result for me was no ppf

- ceramic is the "new & improved" way go to for wax on steroids...so i am giving it a go, as (and i know already) it helps make washing it off easy - really does

Just got PPF done by Angelo at AutoLisi.com. Did full bumpers, doors, partial hood, wheel wells, other odds, and ends.

Guy is not good at marketing, in fact, you may not find his website, he had no Yelp presence until I told him to make one and his website shows up Italian ones not his but did an amazing job at a great price.

3rd car I've done PPF to into the last 10-15 years and he was by far the best. Highly recommend, if you hit his yelp the 1 review is me. Check out his Instagram and Facebook links, on the bottom of his website. He's done a ton of 911s.

Anyhow price came in $2k less than most all others and the work is perfect. Got no association, just stand up honest guy who does great work.

Did multiple cars w PPF/Ceramic at Touch of Glass. Fantastic quality, Anthony Is like the Picasso of paint prep before PPF. Great guys too, Modesta is top quality ceramic.
Darien Detail also excellent but not as focused on new car prep as TOG.
