How are your piano black trim pieces holding up?
Just curious. I was cleaning a bit of PB trim today, and noticed it was impressively swirled. It wasn’t that noticeable with regular lighting, but I happened to be wearing a headlight to help me see under the dash.

pictures of your examination would be interesting.

Agree, would be interested to see your swirls and others how they are holding up.
Mine received a scratch from the wife’s bracelet within the first week (just to say a little annoyed 😠 would be an understatement, but I want to stay married so didn’t say anything) I covered it in a carbon wrap. Looks good, doesn’t show scratches and easily removed if required.
Also I have just noticed that DB Carbon now sell these parts as direct replacements for the side of the gear leaver (manual and pdk), lower part with the seat heating, cooling or nothing as well as the surround for the cup holder/cubby box.

Trim pieces on each side of the nubbin are $59 each at Suncoast.

Mine are holding up great, but it's nice to know that they're a $59/ea when the time comes.

I hate piano black trim I have no idea why car designers continue to use it. My current vehicles have a lot of piano black trim and both cars are 4 years old, my trim is still in near perfect condition but I am almost obsessive about not touching it and I polish it a few times a year. This is just not a suitable material to be used in a car.

Good to know about Suncoast and the replacement pieces. When we test drove a 992 at our dealer the demo car had the Paldao wood trim, and we liked it a lot and ordered it for our 992. The Paldao is on the dash and doors of course, and on the lower part of the console where the parking brake switch resides, but the sides of the gear nub are piano black. Personally I find this puzzling as it strikes me as a somewhat glaring contrast to go from the dash Paldao then down to the console in PB then ending in Paldao. I have not checked the Suncoast web site yet, but it would be nice if someone would make the gear nub side panels available in Paldao (or carbon fiber for those who have the carbon interior trim or even leather!). I'd gladly pay double or triple the $59 for some nice Paldao pieces. This is one of those mildly annoying things that Porsche did that I simply cannot understand. It's not as though someone who orders the Paldao would notice if the price of the option was increased by a couple of Benjamins to cover the cost to add gear nub side panels in the wood. (sigh)

Where on the Suncoast site do you see CF trim pieces for $59? I appreciate the availability of products on their website but their prices leave me wondering what kind of margins they must have! I saw CF trim pieces for a key fob, on SALE, for $175. Not quite sure Suncoast sells anything for $59. It would be fantastic if you could provide a link that has these trim pieces listed.

Suncoast is OEM. DB carbon has the carbon stick on.

My piano black trim still looks like new. It gets cleaned regularly with a damp microfibre cloth, then wiped dry with a different cloth. Every month or so I do a coat of CMX ceramic. For those rare situations (twice - both times Starbucks Flat White) where something gets spilled while driving, I keep a lint free cloth and glass cleaner in the glovebox to do a quick wipe up.
No kids, no pets, and neither my wife nor I wear dangling jewelry or bracelets, so perhaps easier for us to keep piano black trim looking good.

No problems with my piano black trim--just keep stuff that scratches away from it and wipe it down occasionally. I actually prefer PB--even paid extra for it on my M8C GC over the standard carbon fiber trim.
