Power Steering Plus - Can the dealer turn on/off on a 992?
This is NOT a post to debate whether or not one should get Power Steering Plus.
I'm just looking for confirmation on whether this can be turned off/on by a dealer - as it appears this software change can be made on a 991.
Any real-world experience having it activated/deactivated?
Has anyone here added it on after the fact?
Thanks!

Anecdotally, on the 911 UK forum, (can I post a link)? There has been feedback that you can not remove PSP from the 992. I really hope that's wrong.

My understanding from my SA is that it can be turned off and then back on but not on if you never had it to begin with - FWIW
Not sure why one would turn it off though if you already paid for it. As you said not a debate about whether its worthwhile but once you have it not sure what the benefit to turning it off is

I currently have PSP spec'ed on my new build, but now questioning whether or not I want it. Again, I have no first-hand comparison experience, so I just purchased it because I had it on my Cayman.
I just want to know if there is the option to purchase it later like you can with the 991.
Suncoast for example: Power Steering Plus Software : Suncoast Porsche Parts & Accessories (suncoastparts.com)
Or if I do purchase it with the new build, and decide to turn it off, is that possible?

I tried to buy it and have it activated at two separate dealerships who said it could be done. Both failed and didnt understand why they could do this on a 991 but not a 992. This was back in summer of 2020, so maybe that's changed since then. But that was my experience.

It seems like all signs are pointing to "no" at this point.

For those trying to turn PSP off -- as I am... I did hear from a service tech I've worked with for years that it is indeed possible to disable PSP on the 992 (my guess is it probably means it can also be enabled for those of you trying to go the other direction). The issue is whether or not they'll agree to do it. Seems there's a perceived liability issue for the dealer to disable a feature that came from the factory -- he said "it's not recommended". However, he suggested I call other dealers in the area since it seems turning it on or off is at the discretion of the service manager for that particular dealer. Will let anyone know if I ultimately get it turned off. My prior car was a 991.2 GTS without PSP and I don't like having it (bought a 992 off the lot) -- just my personal preference.

Yes, you can on/off power steering plus. I didn’t have it and the dealer activated for free, you don’t need a code. They just turn it on or off with PIWIS. Te get it free, you need a good relation with the tech guy, just give him some beers 🍻
